Daily Inspiration: Meet Nathalie Brutus

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nathalie Brutus.

Nathalie Brutus

Hi Nathalie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hello, my name is Nathalie Brutus, and I am a hairstylist located in the Central Florida area.  From a very tender, I’ve loved beauty and how confident it makes others feel. Additionally, I have always been a catalyst of enhancing the natural self.

I started doing hair at the age of 20, which was shortly after my first year of college. No; there wasn’t an office suite, a salon, or an elaborate location. I started with humble beginnings in my mother’s garage. Many would despise small beginnings, however; I viewed this opportunity as a mere foundational experience that would later pave the way for a monumental business opportunity that enabled me to create, exercise my passion, and serve others all while making money.

As a young entrepreneur, I took pride in the process and in every stage of my career. I’ve always had the mind-set that I will remain in a position to learn. As a result, my clientele grew. One day, a young lady booked me for “stitch braids.” I took pleasure in serving her and enhancing her beauty. I fell in love with the process and the experience, and she fell in love with her hairstyle. A few weeks later, I received a call with a message of admiration for my work. That phone call turned into a business opportunity and my purpose, passion, and business became much larger than I had imagined. Consequently, I was offered the opportunity to open a salon. I partnered with the beautiful Kayla Kurtel at Lavished Inch Salon, located in Leesburg, Florida. This, now, 4-year journey has been nothing short of Amazing! During this short time, my calendar transitioned from “booked” to “overbooked.” I’ve served so many beautiful women, young ladies, and older queens. This is a very gratifying and amazing journey, and I am eager to continue.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This has been a very challenging experience, however; I have learned that the most amazing miracles are birthed from pain and require much work. As an entrepreneur, you will find that you should be the primary investor of your business. I do not speak of only money, but I speak of time, dedication, research, and consistency. I’ve spent many hours working late to promote my work. I would post content on social media, research marketing strategies, and create content by taking images, and making video content. Also, I would spend hours studying to improve my work. This would include learning new styles, and new ways to perfect what I already knew.

I appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
The best hair stylists are versatile. Very rarely will you find a stylist who can execute an array of styles. I specialize in braids (for which I am well known around the city), wig creating and installation, quick-weaves, and sew-ins. Additionally, I am a beast when installing lace closures and frontals. I have learned that it’s okay to be proud of your own work and work ethic. I also take pride in my ability to work through any obstacle. I will always strive to do the best for myself and my family.  What sets me apart is my humble personality and willingness to serve women of all ages and from different walks of life. I find that the salon is not only a place to enhance outward beauty, but also inward beauty.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory would be of my parents and I going to the Everglades to camp. The scenery was beautiful, the weather was nice, and the birds were chirping. I enjoyed every bit of it. Ironically, I am not a “lover of nature,” however; this trip taught me to observe and reverence the beauty of it.
