Daily Inspiration: Meet Neal Jones

Today we’d like to introduce you to Neal Jones.

Hi Neal, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio with my mom dad and two older sisters. My father was and still is an actor and a singer. He sang in the Cleveland Opera, theatrical plays and church. My mom was a teacher and directed the choir at church. My sisters and I were inspired by our parents to participate in the arts. Singing, dancing, acting, painting, and more. Over the years, I was inspired by the art of photography. I would see awesome production photos of my father’s plays and those photos told a story, a piece of the story from the play. My mom would collect all the photos and the programs from my dad’s plays. She would also keep all the photos of all the accomplishments of the whole family. As I got older, I realized that these photos were moments of encouragement and inspiration. So I thought that others would appreciate a quality photo of their loved ones or a life event for inspiration and encouragement as well. And today, I run Big Neal Photography.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been a smooth road. Learning a lot and enduring the pandemic. With photography, there are a lot of ways to work. With the expansion of internet, I had to learn to take photos of products and even a little bit of recording. There was a learning curve, but it’s worth it.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I take photos of families and portraits. I specialize in family photos and known for family photos, I am most proud of being able to capture moments with families. It allows them to come together if it’s just for an hour. What sets me apart is the fun my clients have when they have a photoshoot with me. We play music, some dance, and more importantly everyone smiles.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was a smart, athletic, outgoing and good kid. I always played an instrument and was always doing something with the arts. I was deeply interested in Shakespeare and movies. I loved movies as a kid and was always trying to find a good one. I was happy, always smiling and looking to have a good time and play some ball.
