Daily Inspiration: Meet Nyelah Pierre-Louis

Hi Nyelah, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi, my name is Nyelah Pierre-Louis and I am a 17-year-old multi business owner and entrepreneur. My business journey started at the beginning of summer 2022, when God gave me a vision about starting a clothing business called Planting Positivity. He gave me this vision when I was looking at a calendar marked with all the important dates and activities my community would be hosting that month. One of the activities was in reference to positivity, immediately the name came to me, and I instantly began to think of how in the bible it talks about the importance of sowing and reaping. Within those next minutes, a vision was placed in my mind, and I began jotting down all my ideas on a word document. By the end of that night, I had plans to start a Christian clothing brand called “Planting Positivity” and was determined to get it up and running as soon as possible. 

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
In reality, starting a clothing business is not something that is super easy, and it definitely does not happen overnight. It requires time, patience, vision, money, a lot of research, and communication. When I initially started the clothing business, I did not know where to begin. I spent countless nights up late watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s and doing all kinds of research to try and soak up as much free information as possible to help get me started. The most challenging thing was finding someone to create my logo. I spent a lot of time and money hiring people to create different designs and logos for me, but I couldn’t find anyone who shared the same vision as I, no matter how well I tried to explain it. That was until my sister and co-owner Amyah Pierre-Louis came to me and showed me a logo design she created. The logo she designed was perfect and that is the logo we use to represent our brand today. Despite the obstacles and challenges, I did not lose faith and I put my trust in God through it all. The first collection my sister and I ever launched were called FAITH and TRUST hoodies because without that none of it would have been possible. 

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a 17-year-old self-employed entrepreneur. Aside from owning my own clothing business “Planting Positivity LLC.” I also own a second business called Teeth Rejuvenation LLC. I am a certified teeth whitening and tooth gem technician. I am located in both Orlando and Kissimmee Florida, and I am known for making people’s teeth look pearly white and blinged out. What I am most proud of is how at 17 years old I have been able to start up and run two businesses while also being enrolled in high school and attending college through dual enrollment. What sets me apart from others is my level of drive and determination to want to do well and be successful. I learned early on that a dream means nothing without action because you could dream it all you want but it is not until you take action that things start to happen. Regardless of my age or any circumstances that may come my way, I will always strive to conquer my goals. One of my favorite bible verses is Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” No matter what life throws at you as long as you remain faithful and trust in Jesus nothing will be able to stop what God has instored for you.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I have traveled to many cities, and I can state proudly that the city of Orlando is definitely one of the best cities in the country. I love the diversity of Orlando. Being exposed to the different people and cultures within the city is one of the many gifts Orlando has to offer. Orlando has endless sites to see, tons of unique restaurants and there is constantly something to do. If there were anything I could change about Orlando, it would be the traffic.
