Hi Nzinga, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my business in 2019, but its connection goes back to my childhood. I was raised spiritually, so starting a spiritual business felt like a full-circle moment. I also lost my mama in 2014, so that also played a part in my starting my business.
My mama, Chionesa, is a guiding force for me, and I wanted to honor her by naming my business. Chi’s Aura Crystals is Chionesa’s Aura. I offer a variety of crystals and spiritual tools because I believe in there being something for everyone, regardless of their spiritual knowledge, so you can be a beginner or an expert and still find something you might be interested in.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road. It’s actually one that’s filled with many obstacles right now. In the beginning, it’s the usual “trying to grow my business” phase, but I feel like I’m in that phase again.
So many things have changed since I started my business, including social media. It’s like you have to constantly pivot to be seen, but even when you pivot, it doesn’t guarantee anything, so I’m just trying to find my ground again.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. What can you tell our readers who might not be as familiar with your work?
I own an online crystal shop called Chi’s Aura Crystals, which specializes in offering a variety of crystals and spiritual tools. My customers call me the Crystal Lady, and I love it so much that I started using it as a handle for some of my social media. I am most proud of the feedback and reviews I’ve received from my customers over the years. They have shared such beautiful experiences with me.
I pack all of my orders in cleansing herbs so that my customers receive crystals that are energetically clear, which makes it easier for them to begin working with them immediately. The cleansing herbs can also be stored for reuse as needed. That is what sets me apart from other crystal shops.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I always tell people to look for a connection. For example, what’s the story behind a business that you are interested in?
When it comes to my business, you can see my connection to it through the stories I share and the content I create. I feel that being able to see the personality of the business and the person behind it helps you find a connection.
