Today we’d like to introduce you to Olivia Williams.
Hi Olivia, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Many Mumbling Mice began in 2019 with a simple, heartfelt idea: to make an artsy, eco-friendly soy candle as a gift for a loved one. That small act sparked something bigger: a deep love for safe, intentional candle-making rooted in connection, memory, and care for the planet.
From the beginning, I didn’t just want to make candles to burn, I wanted to make candles that meant something. Candles that could bring back memories, create new ones, and still be kind to the Earth. As a Forensic Science college drop-out and creative, I wanted to add more to candles than just smell-goods. I wanted to create an aesthetic alongside the scent. Every design is a mix of purpose and play. They are fun, nostalgic, and artistic, all while being eco-conscious.
While candles are the heart of my business, Many Mumbling Mice has grown into something much more. It’s become a hub for creativity, community, and good vibes. F pop-up markets to immersive events like summer camps and Halloween murder mystery parties, I’ve even had the honor of seeing my candles carried in small local shops.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has most definitely not been a smooth road! When I moved, I had to leave a lot of things behind and essentially restart my business. It’s had it’s ups and downs, but never enough to quit and not keep pushing through. Nothing will dim this flame!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I love being “eco-conscious”. In a world like today’s, I understand not everyone can be fully eco-friendly, so I want to make it a bit easier to integrate into daily lifestyles. For example, I started the trend of styled Car Freshies that last up to three months and have their own personal touch. I offer free refills at pop-up events to make it even easier for people to want to continue using them. With my candles, I do a refill program as well where you can get a discount on reusing your jar, too.
How do you define success?
I define success by my happiness and work-life balance. Sure, money is VERY important nowadays, and I do like to measure it year-by year. If I’m stable and it’s paying some bills, I’m winning.
