Daily Inspiration: Meet Pamela Bussey

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pamela Bussey.

Hi Pamela, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I started my business, Bussey Arbitration and Mediation Services, LLC as a way to process my grief at the unexpected death of my significant other, Christian Tetteh Tagoe, Ph.D.

Before he died, we talked about how Arbitration and Mediation are global processes and I could do them from anywhere in the world so long as there was an internet connection, including Ghana, which is where he was from, and he would probably retire there.

As an Army brat, I grew up all over and as an adult, I continued to travel. In fact, I call myself a citizen of the world.

I am extremely fortunate and blessed to have had the travel experiences I have had and met people with whom I am still in contact.

I believe it’s important to share my good fortune and I do so by being involved in my community-I am the chairperson of the Lake Mary Elder Commsission.

Additionally, I created a podcast, Ancestral Muses, where I talk to people I know or have met as we all have a story to share. Through the stories I share I hope to motivate and inspire others all over the world, as my podcast audience is worldwide.

This year, I will make a foray in utilizing my YouTube channel, which can be found under my name/business.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Nothing happens without bumps in the road or struggle.

My life is a living testament to that! I have always been willing to take the road less traveled!

I say things happen for a reason and failure is sometimes inevitable. Lessons learned like perseverance, patience, and flexibility were key to my journey.

I also made plans while I was still working in terms of me taking the necessary training to become an Arbitrator and Mediator.

I also am an Artist and photographer, so I purchased a lot of items I needed while I had a steady source of income.

As they say, have a plan and work the plan! Do not be afraid to take a risk or leap of faith but do your research or homework so you some insights into what it is you are trying to accomplish when you decide to become an entrepreneur.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I combine my love of travel, photography, and art into Art quilts. Whenever I travel I buy fabric that I incorporate into my quilts

I am also able to incorporate photos that I have taken into my work as well. I read up on the customs and culture of places I visit as well I make it a point to visit museums in every country I visit.

I incorporate symbols and tell a story through my art.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Be willing to take a risk and do not give up on your dreams.

I was fortunate in that I am an Attorney, so I was able to put those skills to good use when I incorporated my business myself and my website.

I am fortunate to know young people who have skills I do not, so I reached out to them as needed.

Don’t be afraid to ask for help or collaborate/ barter with those who have skills you do not.
