Daily Inspiration: Meet Pete August

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pete August.

Hi Pete, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
To say how I started is an easy, yet difficult question to answer.

I would say that being a music producer and starting out as a PR Agent came naturally for me as I’ve always been a creative person and have always had a passion for music & art as a whole.

The difficult part was learning how to translate that creative itch I’ve always had into the real world.

I grew up in New York and was immediately exposed to all types of art at a young age. From there I knew that was my passion, but it took me a while to really learn which aspect of art was my passion.

Was it creating it? Was it admiring it? Was it wanting to help other people with their art and making sure more people saw it?

The answer I soon learned later in life was yes to all the above. I wanted to be involved in every aspect. I love creating but also loved helping other creators as well.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s never a smooth road. If it was then everyone would do it.

Everyone wants to create something & I believe we all have something inside of us that wants to be seen. Art is just an expression and an example of how we can be seen.

The reality is that most people give up along the way because that road isn’t a smooth one. But I believe the smooth roads don’t build your character the way a ruff one does.

The ruff one is the one that molds you into who you are meant to be.

We all go struggles and have tough days. We all deal with financial issues at some point, relationship issues, health issues, self-fulfillment issues, and etc.

I’ve been through all of them and still go through them of course, but the difference is how you bounce back.

We could all quit because it’s too hard and be in no better shape than where we started, or we can endure those trials and see the beauty that comes out of it when the storm passes.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
This is a tuff question as well. The easier question is what don’t I do.

I’ve always had my hand in something, especially when it comes to art.

I really started as a songwriter and then later progressed into a videographer. I loved shooting, directing, and editing. Bringing a song or moment to life via videography is just something amazing when it all comes together.

After that is when I really became a PR or better known as a publicist, or “the plug” as everyone calls it these days.

I’ve helped thousands of artist and their careers, whether it was helping them get their music on the radio, building their social media, helping them get in contact with major blogs, setting up press runs and etc.

I would say that’s where I have gotten the most recognized in my career so far.

I met a lot of great people and artist while doing this over the past couple of years.

After that is when I fell in love with the production side of music. I would say that’s now what I am most passionate about.

Like I said I love to create. There’s so much beauty in it, so much that it can clear your mind of that ruff road we talked about earlier, and make you focus on all the blessings in life.

To be able to create every day is a gift and I refuse to take that for granted just because the road may not be smooth.

I think what sets me apart from most is my perspective on life like how I view obstacles, challenges, and people. I try my best to always be positive and look at everything with a purpose.

I believe everything happens the way it’s meant to and with that mindset, I don’t feel there’s anyway any of us can actually lose.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Don’t give up. I know it’s cliche, but it really is true. The journey is long, the journey is ruff, but the journey is rewarding because of it.

If it was easy, then we wouldn’t appreciate it or value it as much when we do reach those goals and destinations.

I love this guy. I may be biased as he’s my son, but I’m a proud mama.
