Today we’d like to introduce you to Preston.
Hi Preston, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I dropped out of high school when I was 15 because I wanted to be a rich and famous jazz trumpet player.
I failed, lol.
I started standup at age 17, and did open mics until I was 19.
Then I stopped doing standup so I could learn to play bass, piano, and organ. I also got a BFA in Creative Writing from Full Sail. I painted and sold my art for spending money while at school. When I graduated I went back to standup, and haven’t looked back. That was 2 years and 8 months ago.
Since then I’ve won 3rd place in the Florida’s Funniest competition and 1st place in the Tailwhip competition.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Taking a break was hard. But I came back with more maturity and knowledge and skills that served me.
I struggle with addiction, like many comics, and being at bars doing comedy is very difficult sometimes.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a Social Media Specialist for a transportation company. I love making content. I mostly do graphic design and video editing for the company.
