Daily Inspiration: Meet Rachel Snyder

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Snyder

Hi Rachel, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I began doing hair extensions early in my career and loved them so much that I was constantly consuming more education around them so I could offer my guests the best extension experience I possibly could. I just loved the way they enhanced a hairstyle or color and gave my guests their dream hair and boosted their confidence.

My extension expertise brought in a lot of new gusts seeking solutions for their thin, fine, or damaged hair. I loved always having a solution to their hair problem, and if my skillset couldn’t serve them best I always knew another stylist’s whose could.

But then women started coming to me for extensions seeking coverage and volume on the top of their hair, where hair loss and thinning had taken over. Unfortunately extensions can’t go in the top, they don’t work that way. They’d be extremely obvious and wouldn’t offer the right effect. But the issue was I didn’t have a solution for them or knew of anyone who did and I absolutely hated not being able to help them! That’s when I began to realize that women’s hair loss was a very common issue and our community needed someone they could go to for a solution. So I decided to be that someone. I discovered a topper system called Microlines, an integrated breathable topper that you can fully live in.

In the last 3 years since I’ve introduced Microlines I’ve been able to help dozens of women overcome their insecurities around hairloss and rediscover love for their hair again with a natural looking and feeling solution. I still specialize in extensions and love them dearly but Microlines holds a special place in my heart because it is truly such a life changing experience for so many women.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There have certainly been some bumps along the way; trial and error with install methods, cuts not coming out great, but I’ve learned from every single mistake made and it has made me a much more knowledgeable and confident stylist. Now I can foresee issues before they happen and prevent them. And though it’s rare, when issues do still come up I always have a solution at the ready.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a hairstylist that specializes in extensions and hair loss solutions. I operate in a private studio in Winter Park. I am one of the few local hair stylists that offers fully customized hair loss solutions that are attached and integrated with your natural hair.
I take immense pride in the work I do because I’ve witnessed the effect it has on women’s lives. It’s truly life changing.
My first love and specialty was color and while I don’t take on color only services anymore I use my color skills to create beautifully colored extension and toppers that blend seamlessly and naturally with my guest’s natural hair.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I am an introvert so networking is terrifying to me but I have learned that despite being nervous around new people it’s sooooooooo important to put yourself out there. I’ve made some really great connections that have enabled me to serve more women with my skills. I find that when I’m talking about my work I feel confident conversing with people so I like to be in an environment designed for business networking.
