Today we’d like to introduce you to Raymond (Ray) Reyes.
Hi Raymond (Ray), it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us. To start, can you tell our readers a bit about your backstory?
I got my start in real estate back in 2015 when I purchased my first property to flip. Before that, I worked as an electrician—until I was injured on the job. That setback actually pushed me toward a new opportunity.
I partnered with a friend to buy a foreclosure about two hours away in upstate New York, and we decided to take on the renovation ourselves. After completing the project, I rented it out for a year. Unfortunately, while I was on vacation, the tenant moved out without notice. When I returned, I discovered the pipes had frozen and burst, flooding the entire home. I had to completely renovate the property all over again.
Once I sold that home, I moved on to my next flip—this time two hours away in Pennsylvania. Around that time, I also earned my real estate license and began managing multiple properties for other investors. In 2019, I relocated to Florida, where I continued managing my northern properties remotely and got licensed here as well. Today, I work full-time as a real estate agent while still flipping homes on the side.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road? If not, what have been some of your biggest challenges along the way?
Not at all—it’s been far from smooth, but it’s been rewarding. I transitioned from the construction field to a corporate marketing role and eventually into full-time real estate. Along the way, I’ve faced my share of challenges: work injuries, adapting to new industries, and handling the ups and downs that come with real estate investing.
I’ve dealt with damaged homes, foundation issues, faulty wiring, full gut rehabs, squatters, and insurance claims. Each challenge taught me something valuable and helped shape the professional I am today.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a real estate agent with a deep understanding of many aspects of the industry. I work with buyers, sellers, and investors, and I also manage properties, flip homes, and own rental properties myself.
What I’m most proud of is helping others invest in real estate—especially people who never thought it was possible. I have created training courses and work with new investors who are looking to invest both in and out of state. I genuinely enjoy every part of the business, from helping first-time buyers to guiding investors through their next flip.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
The biggest key is showing up—and not just physically. It’s about doing what you say you’ll do and following through consistently. That kind of reliability goes a long way in this business.
Another important thing is adding value. Whether through my background in marketing, construction, or sales, I always look for ways to contribute and bring something useful to the table. That’s how you build real connections and long-term success in this industry.
