Today we’d like to introduce you to Rayn Forest.
Hi Rayn, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
To be honest, I answered the call from my Ancestors, Spirit Guides, Los Muertos ( The Dead) that I honor and serve, at the age of 17. As far back as I can remember I always had a keen understanding about death. My Bisabuela (Great Grandmother) taught me that Los Muertos should be honored and respected, there was no need to be afraid and I wasn’t. It is in my Taíno Arawak Indian & African bloodline to honor and celebrate the lives of deceased loved ones as they transition from this life to another.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it has not been a smooth road. Death is a very difficult topic for people to discuss. Most people have a very difficult time processing their feelings and emotions. Death is still a very taboo topic. Most people don’t even know that our Ancestors would perform home funeral services. They would wash and dress their loved ones, play music, light candles and tell stories about the departed loved ones. This is a service I provide, it’s extremely sacred and the family can assist if they would like to.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a Death Midwife aka Death Doula, Bereavement Doula, Curandera, Spirit & Animal communicator, Spiritual Advisor, Ordained Spiritual Counselor and a Reiki Master. I practice Ancestral Herbalism which is the communication and connection of my Ancestors, through visions that allow me to make herbal products. I provide end of life planning, services and support. My services are for people and their beloved pet companions. I also provide services and support to birthing bodies that experienced a miscarriage, stillbirth ectopic pregnancy, IVF loss, surrogacy loss and even abortion support. I would say I’m known for being of great support in time of need. A great listener and having warm energy. I would say I’m most proud that I’ve answered the calling from my Ancestors. I would always say that I truly following my life mission in soul’s purpose in this life cycle. What sets me apart from others is I was blessed with gifts and talents giving to me by my Ancestors, and I’m carrying out my family’s legacy.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is to always be genuine and humble. I’ve also learned that I’m here to serve all, Pachamama, animals, people and the deceased.
