Today we’d like to introduce you to Rickey Jones.
Hi Rickey, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
1. I started my business interest while attending Louisiana State University (LSU) where I graduated with my Bachelors in Business Administration.
2. After graduating, I had plans to join the Air Force as a chaplain with a desire to travel around the world sharing love and bring smiles to people faces.
3. Shortly thereafter, I married my wife, Chrystle Jones, while in grad school and shifted my career goals to being a missionary and Minister full time.
4. Once I graduated from grad school with my Master’s of Arts in Christian Ministries, we moved to Tampa, FL to work at her family’s church as a full-time minister and missionary leader.
5. Chrystle spoke to me about wanting to start a film business as a writer and director so I then looked up what all it took to make a movie. I then took on the role of being a producer and also started a YouTube channel to vlog the process/journey.
6. Fast forwarding from there, we have formed multiple business under the umbrella Pursuit of Destiny where we have multiple YouTube Channels, a podcast, a Gardening Business, a hairline company, a consulting business and an outreach for singles.
7. My goals and desires for 2022 is to focus and grow our gardening business, Garden With Me, our podcast channel Pursuit of Destiny Podcast and expand our reach of our single’s YouTube channel, a Purposeful Pursuit.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. We have had multiple businesses that we have started and had to stop due to various factors. We have started all of our businesses while also working full-time jobs and parenting two children. As we have assumed more and more responsibilities on our jobs, it makes working on our personal businesses a struggle. We have had to focus our attention in one area at a time just to make sense of it all and make the necessary adjustments for progression. We also found it was necessary to share one another’s goals with each other so that we can have the support of each other!
We also want to make sure our children are a part of what we do so that they don’t feel left out or neglected. I would not say we have struggles, we call them opportunities for growth!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Overall, we are entertainers! I would say the Jones family does media whether that is YouTube, film, social media or speaking engagements. I am most proud of the journey Chrystle and I have had in growing our YouTube channels. It was something I wanted to do when we first were married that we didn’t do until we were about four years into marriage. However, we have grown multiple channels and are enjoying them all!
What sets me apart is my love for people and my excitement about life that is felt through each video I publish.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was a very personable person! I had many friends in each aspect of life from school, church, sports teams and neighborhood. People viewed me as a fun, funny and well-mannered child. My father was a Baptist Preacher for the majority of my life and my mother is a retired Army officer, so that influenced the way treated people, spoke to people and conducted myself in life. I was interested in fashion and girls growing up to the point wherein high school, I would write on a calendar what I wore to school that day so that I would not repeat any article of clothing for that month. However, when I went to college I became less focused on fashion and more on having a good time with my friends.
