Today we’d like to introduce you to Saleem Joseph.
Hi Saleem, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started making content during Quarantine just for the fun of it. And later on, I started making skits and a lot of people enjoyed them. As my followers started to grow my content became more diverse but mainly sticking to the skits.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Yeah for the main part it has. But a couple of months ago, I had made a video mentioning that I got kicked out of my mosque Quran memorization class for having dreads. And it was a whole mess with them lying on my name throughout the community saying I was lying about the whole situation. Basically, I was being discriminated for the hair I had, and they were trying to make me take the video down since I was bringing to light what they did to me and they didn’t want people knowing because that put them in a bad light.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I would say for right now I’m self-employed. I make skits and things of that nature for fun but also get $ for it but nothing too crazy. I’m known for playing basketball and working out. That’s something I’m very passionate about and my main goal is to go pro by the age of 21. I’m most proud of myself and how far I’ve come in the past 2 years. I never would’ve imagined having people interested in my life and how I got here. What’s sets me apart from others Is that I have a lot of patience since I know that the work I put in my will show doesn’t matter if it isn’t right this second but I believe that if you put the work in you will end up getting what u worked for..
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I wouldn’t say I’ve had any bad or good luck in what I do. I produce funny skits that people enjoy and I get positive feedback from it.
