Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Wisherd.
Hi Sarah, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I grew up and attended school in the Sanford and Lake Mary area, and later earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Central Florida. I’ve always known that I wanted to work with children in some capacity, and that passion really guided my path.
While I was in college, I was invited to return to my former high school to help coach the archery team I had once been a part of. What started as a part-time opportunity quickly became a long-term commitment, and I’m proud to now serve as the head coach of that same team.
After graduation, I began searching for a meaningful and unique way to work with children, which led me to iFocus Progressive Learning Center. The owner, Ms. Brandi, gave me an incredible opportunity, and over the past four years, we’ve built something truly special in the field of childhood education.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t think anyone’s journey is ever completely smooth—challenges are inevitable, but they’re also what help us grow stronger, wiser, and more prepared for what’s next. Personally, I faced some uncertainty about where my path would lead after graduation. But I’ve always believed that everything happens for a reason. Looking back, every challenge and detour has guided me to exactly where I’m meant to be today.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I currently serve as the lead instructor at iFocus Progressive Learning Center, where I oversee and contribute to all of our programs—including the homeschool program, afterschool activities, and a variety of camps. I’m involved in developing curriculum and ensuring that every program and project runs smoothly and effectively.
One of the aspects I’m most proud of is bringing a creative, artistic approach to our programs. Art is a big passion of mine, and I’m grateful to Ms. Brandi for providing a space where I can integrate that creativity into our educational programs, making learning both fun and meaningful for the kids we serve.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I’m an avid reader and truly love getting lost in a good book that transports me to new worlds, takes me on adventures, and teaches me something new. It’s hard for me to pick a single favorite because every book is unique and offers something different.
That said, I firmly believe that reading—no matter the genre or subject—has the power to inspire, broaden perspectives, and spark creativity. This passion for learning and exploration through books directly influences how I approach my work, allowing me to bring fresh ideas, empathy, and curiosity to everything I do.
