Today we’d like to introduce you to Solange Sanchez.
Hi Solange, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My passion for modeling and acting started when I was just a toddler. Something about fashion and stories just drew me in. My journey, however, didn’t begin until much later in life when I moved from the small town of Marathon, FL., into the city of Gainesville, FL. The move happened when I started college at the University of Florida, where I spent some years working on my Bachelor’s degree in literature. There, I took acting and theater classes, walked for runway shows, and was a part of an all Women Acting Company. My experiences during those years opened the door for opportunities for out-of-state jobs, including NYFW. Everything happened rather quickly after that and it’s been a thrilling and exciting ride since.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Most every aspect of our lives tend to have their ups and downs; I’m thankful for the setbacks and the slow seasons that allowed me to focus on learning and perfecting techniques instead. Overall, it’s been a wonderful journey.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I always struggle to answer when asked what I do for a living. You see, for most of my day, I work as an accountant and have been doing so for over seven years now. I’ve been learning and growing in this field as well. Besides accounting, modeling, acting, I’m also a published writer. Just this past January I published a poetry book and I’m currently working on a trilogy fantasy series that’s set to launch in the next couple of years. I’m open to taking on more roles if the opportunities permit it.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Be versatile! I think it’s crucial to learn as much as you can about the world and the things within it. The more you know about a large selection of topics, the more you can adapt and understand the world and the people around you. It’s also made me more open to criticism and suggestions as I have a better understanding of where these are coming from.
