Today we’d like to introduce you to Steve Stevenson.
Hi Steve, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, you could tell our readers some of your backstory.
2003, Scott Breeyear founded New England Trim, Inc. in Central Florida. The company name honored his roots as he and his wife Vicki came from Milford, New Hampshire, to Florida. Scott was a fireman and an auto body technician, but woodworking was “in his blood.” His skills as a tradesman found him providing quality trim and millwork for some of central Florida’s largest home builders as a side hustle. The business expanded, and his team grew quickly. Over the years, he added Chad Clark and Greg Hill to his leadership team. The company now employs or contracts over 130 people, including installers, cabinet makers, furniture builders, and the amazing office team. Scott says, “It is all about employees to me. He was feeding them every week. 100 subs and 30 employees, I have over 300 people (staff and families) who depend on us, and I take that very seriously. Sometimes, it keeps me up at night worrying about them. They have always taken care of me, so I must take care of them. It is really what drives me to succeed. Failure is not an option.” Scott spends his free time (not sure how he finds free time) running his non-profit organization “Trophies for Heroes,” which offers disabled veterans and first responders respite through immersion in nature and ethical hunting. Located in South Carolina on his 5,000 square foot, 10 bedroom, 34-acre lodge, this labor of love was created to thank our nation’s heroes. Currently, New England Trim is getting a bit of a facelift. We are introducing NET Wood Studio! A new website (we hope you love it as much as we do), logo, and toll-free number are all in place to better serve our existing and future clients. We are expanding into the SWFL and the Big Bend regions. Scott explains, “After all the devastation from Ian and Idalia, there seems to be a huge need for quality work, and we believe we are well-positioned to meet that need. We are looking forward to working with home and boat builders across Florida and providing the same kind of service and quality work we have provided to builders here in the central part of the state for over 20 years.”
Would it have been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The greatest challenge has been finding people who have the same commitment to providing the same high standard of quality that Scott, Greg, and Chad have always worked tirelessly to provide to our clients. From our finish carpenters and cabinet makers to our installation teams, NET is always looking for people with a passion for success, a fine eye for detail, and a commitment to be the best we can be for our clients. Those who have this become more than employees. They become like family to us.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
One of the reasons for the change from New England Trim to NET Wood Studio is that the new moniker more accurately reflects who we have become. We are more than a company that trims houses (although we did well over 3,000 last year, we are pretty darn good at that!). Our team can build virtually anything out of wood. Whether it is custom 0ne-of-a-kind furniture creations, stunning staircases, feature walls, coffered ceilings, barn wood creations (we have a massive inventory of reclaimed barn wood from all over America), a sensational outdoor kitchen or custom-built cabinetry, our team of designers, craftsmen, and installers can transform any living or working space into a work of art. We have combined old-world craftsmanship with state-of-the-art technologies to transform those spaces for our clients.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Special credit needs to go out to Scott Breeyear, the founder and CEO of NET Wood Studio. His vision and tireless commitment to building a fantastic team have made NET one of central Florida’s leaders in fine renovation and new home finishes.
