Daily Inspiration: Meet Tammy Paine

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tammy Paine

Hi Tammy, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
From a young age, I developed a passion for massage, often practicing on friends and family. Initially, I pursued an education in physical therapy but shifted my focus to Athletic Training, earning a Bachelor of Science with an emphasis in Sports Medicine from Old Dominion University. My interest in rehabilitation led me to work in an outpatient physical therapy clinic for seven years, where I gained invaluable hands-on experience from skilled therapists.

Seeking to deepen my connection to massage, I attended massage school and later joined Hands on Health in Cary, NC. There, I trained extensively in Integrative Neuromuscular Massage Therapy, participating in hands-on learning sessions every two weeks for nearly two years. Over 15 years, I thrived in a supportive and inspiring work culture, honing my skills and expanding my expertise.

Now, I’m excited to bring my knowledge and passion for massage therapy to Daytona Beach, Florida, and continue helping others on their journey to health and wellness.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Is the road ever smooth?
Heart break, divorce, starting over from scratch have all been a part of the journey.
Death of a family member, relocating to a new state, patience and perseverance have been required to build new relationships and a business from the ground up.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am trained in Neuromuscular Massage, or trigger point myotherapy, is a specialized form of medical massage that connects the nervous system & soft tissues. It’s not just about relaxation; it’s designed to tackle pain and aid in rehabilitation. Used on a regular basis, this therapy can help to prevent injuries.

With my previous experience as an athletic trainer in a physical therapy office, I have a deeper understanding of muscle function. My college level anatomy courses allowed me to literally see how tissues connect and move with cadaver labs.

I love to feel where clients are feeling “stuck” and follow the trail to the root cause of the lack of motion. Lack of movement creates Pain. With over 20 years of hands on experience, I am able to get to the root of issues to restore function.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
2 of my most recent books include The Egoscue Method of Health Through Motion – by Pete Egoscue
And Anatomy of the Soul – by Curt Thompson. He also has a wonderful podcast called Being Known.
Fiber Fueled – by Will Bulsiewicz has been instrumental in my gut health journey.

Dan Woerheide has a new podcast called Deep Dive Dialogues to help entrepreneurs grown their business.

I come back to these books time and time again, always gleaning something new.
