Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Noto
Hi Taylor, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was born and raised in Iowa, grew up in a family of 5. Became a nurse in 2006, moved to AZ, took my first nursing job in the NICU. Two years into my job, decided to go back to school to become a neonatal nurse practitioner. After becoming an NNP and getting married, we moved to GA for work, worked my first NNP job there. Had my 2 children- a boy and a girl. From there, decided to move to FL to be closer to family, continued working as an NNP. Decided 3 years ago to go back to school to get my DNP and I am currently pursuing that through the University of South Alabama. I am currently working in a community hospital, in the NICU, as an NNP. We live in a suburb of Tampa. Over the past few years, I have gotten more into skincare and beauty, and most recently joined on with a company that carries organic, non toxic, and natural skincare and beauty products. I sell mostly through social selling on Instagram and Facebook. Both social media outlets allow me to express my own creativity and have some fun outside of the seriousness of my full time career. I think social media a game changer and can be used for good when done appropriately.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I would say the road has its ups and downs, like all things in life. Becoming an NNP was one of the most difficult things I have ever done in my life. The transition from RN to NP is not an easy one. Then becoming an NNP and transitioning into that role took a very long time to get comfortable with. It takes, easily, at least 5 years to be even somewhat confident at this job. Saving babies’ lives is not for the weak. I have worked in some extremely nurturing environments and alongside amazing physicians, but I have also experienced the opposite, which makes the day to day grueling.
Social selling on social media is not at all easy, it is a simple process, but in order to make any money through network marketing or social selling, you have to be on your socials ALL the time; which is hard when you have a family and other responsibilities. Learning to prioritize what is most important has been a game changer for me.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My full time job is as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, I take care of the littles lives. I work only in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, in the hospital. My patients are anywhere from 23 weeks gestation, up to full term, and can be 2 years old. There is no pediatric clinic or outpatient unit I can work in.
I am most proud of the pride I feel when I see infants who are very sick and critically ill to then a few weeks- months late, thriving and growing. It is also so amazing to see them when they are toddlers and reaching milestones!! It makes my heart absolutely full.
What sets me apart from others is that I am extremely efficient, my mind just works very fast. I type fast and think fast, almost all the time, every day. It makes seeing patients and writing notes and orders very very useful and helpful for my physicians.
Any big plans?
I am currently in school at the University of South Alabama getting my DNP. I graduate in May 2026. I currently working on a quality improvement project to be started any day. After I graduate, I will continue working as an NNP, but I am also hoping to work as a MSN/DNP teacher for other students who are also looking to become NNP’s.
