Daily Inspiration: Meet Taylor Richards

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Richards.

Hi Taylor, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
Heraboros was born from the desire to grow something for myself to have for a long time. It started as a small one-table pop-up consisting of clay earrings I had taught myself how to make. I really enjoyed making the clay earrings but knew I also wanted to expand and reinvent the brand to be something larger. So I started expanding with other small makers’ products while I focused on growing what we have to offer to include home fragrance, home decor, and a wider selection of jewelry and accessories. The core of Heraboros will always be reflecting on how to create an intuitive and meaningful experience.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being a pop-up-based business the summertime is very challenging to be outdoors. With nearly daily afternoon storms and extreme temperatures it slows down the momentum a lot. In order to compensate, I have been learning how to better utilize an online storefront which is a challenge in itself to learn.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Heraboros is home to many of my different creative outlets. It originally started with handmade clay earrings, now a larger variety of gold vermeil and gold-filled pieces of jewelry are available. I also have background in scent creation for commercial projects, so I knew I wanted to utilize that in my aura sprays and incense, but home fragrance will always be an evolving category. I have also been painting for over ten years, so have just recently started incorporating some pieces into the store, and would have to say painting and concrete mosaics have become what I enjoy the most to create. But I am definitely most known for my jewelry or incense depending who you ask. It is very important to create and source the highest possible quality for my customers, no matter the product. There is nothing I enjoy more than bringing someone a product that will have purpose and bring happiness to their life.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Don’t be afraid to lean on your community. One of the biggest lessons I learned when starting out was how supportive and kind the Orlando small business community is. Be patient with yourself and allow yourself the room to mistakes. Much easier said than done but having a really good support system around can really make that difference.
