Daily Inspiration: Meet Temarah Hernandez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Temarah Hernandez

Hi Temarah, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Temarah. I’m an Aquarius, so naturally as I grew up I wanted to learn more about what that means so in 2022 I decided to start a craft business venture.
I found that Aquarius’s are a rare sign, (around 6% of the population!) and are also known as the alchemist of the zodiac, hence where the name Aqua Alchemy was born. For me, that means that I can make magic!
I’ve always been a crafty person with sometimes very ostentatious ideas. I tend to think of things and search for them online and can never find “the thing” so I make it myself if I physically can. This transformed my crafting ability, and made me crave even more. From vinyl, to resin, now wood and acrylics that I laser cut and engrave! I decided to “ALCHEMIZE” my wood and acrylics and make things that make Me feel happy. My love of plants, boho and rattan, spirituality, astrology, the humanitarian side and the quirkiness of being an Aquarius is what inspires my work. I’m secretly a vey shy person, but upon meeting me you’d think I was the biggest extrovert. I let the shyness creep in wondering if anyone would get my vibes because they’re good. It was the push I needed to become confident in doing in person sales at markets. The response and all the love has been beyond measure. I immediately found my tribe!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Some days are better than others for sure. Over the past 6 years I have been on a type of self discovery and focusing on myself and things that make me happy. I feel blessed that I’ve had some struggles but have been able to over come. One being last summer when the cooling fan on my laser died, all I saw was dollar signs. But I over came. Selling in person is the biggest because it is not for the weak! I have had my tent break during a show twice, forgotten my entire set of bookmarks which are big sellers and caused me to improvise very quickly to fill the space in my booth, forgetting my square reader, some may see them as small but for a business owner these are some things that we fear happening. We have slow seasons where the sales aren’t there, and many of us rely on our businesses to take care of our families. My biggest struggle is selling outdoors in Florida in the rainy season, I’ve lost inventory, set displays, and have felt defeated some rained out days, but yet I always over come. The key is to always find the light amongst all the chaos.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m an earring girly hands down! Give me a cool pair of earrings. That’s all I need to make me feel like a million bucks! Over the years I have made such fun, quirky earrings such as iridescent gummy bears, monstera leaves, a 3d dinosaur, sunny side up eggs.

I make things that are plant themed, boho, cane rattan because I’m obsessed with cane, and zodiac related things.
I also customize items such as baby themed items, event and party items, QR code signs for other businesses!

I am most proud of my wood monstera leaf coasters. They are overall my best selling item and they’re just aesthetically pleasing to use and look at.

I’m not the typical laser business. I like to say I’m a little more risky when it comes to my products. I have something for everyone to love. By risky I mean my typical items may not be so “live laugh love”. I love to see and hear the crowd reactions to my work. I make little hangers to display my earrings and it captures everyone’s attention. Along with the little try on sticks for the earrings that look like your hand when you hold them to your ears.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love coming to Orlando area because the vibes are a bit different compared to Tampa. So far, I haven’t seen too many other laser friends. But I mostly enjoy The People! I’ve met some great folks out here that I ended up following on social media for being such a vibe. It’s very diverse here, definitely feels different than Tampa.
But the traffic… (hard sigh)
