Today we’d like to introduce you to Violeta Militaru.
Hi Violeta, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m a self-taught artist, born in the heart of Transylvania, where my roots lie.
I’ve always been drawn to painting—finding inspiration in nature, the world around me, and the emotions and experiences that shape our lives. I primarily work with acrylics, using both brushes and palette knives across a range of techniques, from abstract to realistic. My style often features bold, vibrant colors that express energy, passion, and emotion.
For me, art is a way to express the inexpressible—to translate emotions, dreams, and life’s full range of experiences onto canvas. We can never truly replicate nature’s perfection, but we can interpret it through imagination and soul.
After moving to Orlando, Florida, I was deeply inspired by the city’s vibrant artistic community. Encouraged by the Orlando Artists Critique Group, I began showcasing my work in local art shows and galleries, which gave me the courage to share my vision with a wider audience.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The biggest challenge has always been the competition between you and yourself. Every artist struggles to evolve—to find that delicate balance between pure expression and technical perfection. Growth in art means constantly questioning, experimenting, and pushing beyond your comfort zone.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I think I’m best known for my use of strong, bold colors. My paintings are expressive and full of movement, reflecting how I see the world and the possibilities of the future.
I’m proud to have exhibited my work in several respected galleries, including the Orlando Museum of Art, CityArts Gallery, Galerie Elan (Daytona Beach), SOBO Art Gallery (Winter Garden Art Association), and Casa del Arte in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, among others.
Each new piece challenges me to explore new dimensions of creativity. My greatest hope is that my art brings joy, inspiration, and emotional connection to those who experience it.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
My Romanian friends were genuinely surprised to learn about my passion for painting—and even more so to see my artwork displayed in galleries across the U.S. and abroad! It’s been a wonderful journey of discovery and growth.
