Today we’d like to introduce you to Wanderlei Narciso.
Hi Wanderlei, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Capoeira Abolição Community Foundation is an international school, founded in the city of Miami Beach, by Mestre Delei Kaçula back in 2004. Mestre Delei Kaçula was born in 1964 in Minas Gerais, Brazil.
He discovered Capoeira at the young age of 8 years old and has dedicated his life to perfecting and teaching this art to his students.
Mestre Delei Kaçula arrived to Miami Beach back in 1994 from Brasil and started teaching at different gyms and schools until 2004 when he opened his HQ in Miami Beach and taught there until he relocated with his family to Lake Nona at the end of 2020.
With his 45yrs+ experience in the art, he currently has students in South, Central, and North America as well as in Europe.
Locally in Lake Nona, he teaches at the Lake Nona Performance Club three times a week classes for children and adults.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely not an easy road but with dedication, passion, and love for the art, things can be accomplished.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in Martial Arts and self-defense for children and adults. I’m known for being the first Mestre to show Capoeira in countries like Peru, Colombia, and Mexico during my journey coming to the USA.
Once I arrived to Miami Beach, I was one of the first Mestres to dedicate to teaching and spreading the art full-time locally and internationally having had thousands of people trying and training Capoeira at any of the locations my schools have.
I’m proud of having had the opportunity to show the art to the world and to continue to teach and show all the benefits Capoeira can add to people’s lives.
I think what sets me apart is that I always stayed true to my values, true to the art, and dedicated to my students and to the essence of the art.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out.
Consistency is key. Dedication and patience would be my advice to anyone starting out not just in martial arts but in life.
