Today we’d like to introduce you to Yahaira Rosario
Hi Yahaira, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I began my fitness journey at Troika Strength and Fitness by attending their Bootcamp classes. At the time, I wasn’t sure what CrossFit was, but the Bootcamp was an easy way for me to get started and begin moving. I initially went three times a week, and before long, I was hooked. The coaches’ encouragement and the supportive community I found here helped me stay accountable and motivated.
Eventually, I found myself attending every day, making fitness a key part of my daily routine. As my commitment grew, I also made changes to my eating habits to ensure I was fueling my body properly for optimal performance. I quickly realized that what I put into my body directly impacted my energy levels and the quality of my workouts.
I then transitioned to CrossFit and weightlifting, and I never looked back. Fast forward nine years, and I’ve lost over 100 pounds, completely transforming my life in the process. I went from regularly eating and drinking out to becoming more mindful of what I put into my body, both for my health and my fitness goals.
With my passion for fitness, I eventually became a coach myself, driven by the desire to help others achieve the same results. Coaching has been an incredibly rewarding experience, and there’s nothing more fulfilling than helping someone reach their goals. Now, I get to give back to the community that helped me so much. Coaching at the very place that helped me transform my life. It’s truly one of the best things that’s ever happened to me.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
For the most part, this journey has been incredible. But, every now and then, self-doubt and imposter syndrome creep in. I question if I’m truly capable of doing this because I didn’t go to college or earn a formal degree in the fitness field. However, my hands-on experience has taught me so much more than any textbook ever could.
And whenever I start to feel unqualified, I remind myself that our God is the God of the impossible. He often calls the unqualified to fulfill His divine purpose. If the opportunity is in front of me, then it’s meant to be—because He doesn’t make mistakes.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I currently manage and coach at Troika Strength and Fitness, and I’m also a retired hair and makeup artist. Although I’ve transitioned out of the beauty industry, I still get to work with long-time clients, which allows me to keep that passion alive. The beauty of doing both of these jobs is that I get to help transform people and empower them to feel their best. Whether it’s through fitness or a fresh look, I’m proud of what I do because it’s about giving people confidence and encouraging them to see the best in themselves.
How do you think about luck?
I don’t believe in good or bad luck, because I believe that God is in control of our lives. Everything that happens is part of His will. God created each of us with a unique purpose, and I believe our lives are meant to be lived for Him, not for ourselves.
