Edit Values Daily Inspiration: Meet Jessica Petit

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Petit.

Hi Jessica, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I was Born and raised in South Florida. I grew up in a Caribbean background. My mom is from the Turks and Caicos. I’ve always been creative as a child. I remember growing up, my mom brought me a Lego set and I would recreate all the pictures on the box it came in within minutes. When I became older, I used that creativity in makeup. I never thought I could be bigger than what I am at any stage in my life because social media can make you feel like you have to be perfect and I am far from that. When I was introduced to TikTok that when I realized that there are so many people out there that’s imperfect like me. So, I started to create content for those types, of imperfect people, that regular people can relate to. I am a single mother who has a great co-parenting relationship with my child’s father, that works 3 jobs because she loves to shop. Lol, I am not done yet but I am happy and grateful for how far I’ve come.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Life is never easy. Getting to this point of being satisfied with my life has been a long journey. I have my insecurities and I self-doubt myself often but I always remember that this is exactly where God wants me to be. So, I need to keep going.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a full-time Floating Receptionist for Advent Health, a part-time Behavioral Health Tech at the rehab center and I do makeup, as well as, be an Amazon Flex Driver in the little spare time I have left when I am not in class. Most people know me for doing makeup and being able to do my own hair. Even while doing all of that my greatest accomplishment is my daughter. Nothing compares to that. I believe My authenticity, uniqueness, and originality are what I think sets me apart from the others.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
When networking what works best for me is reaching out to women like me that are trying to grow their social media platforms and advance in their careers.
