Today we’d like to introduce you to Beth McIntyre.
Hi Beth, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up in sunny Arizona and graduated with honors from Arizona State University with a BA in Theatre. I relocated to Florida to teach theatre and perform at Walt Disney World. After several years of appearing in a variety of shows and parades, I made a shift to the Orlando hospitality world. I gained so much valuable experience in all aspects of the hospitality industry with my roles in VIP/Concierge Services to Event Sales and Management. I married my wonderful husband in 2013 and we became parents in 2016. Just like everyone says, our whole world changed! In 2017, I took a leap of faith by leaving my workplace of ten years to start my own Day Of Wedding Coordinating Business. “Your Favorite Day” was born, offering a solution for Central Florida brides who want to plan their own wedding but also want to relax and enjoy their special day. After four years of being in business, I’ve refined my services and processes to provide a top notch experience. Even though I still focus on Day Of Coordination, I equip my couples with planning tools and support throughout their planning journey. Then we kick it into high gear the month before their wedding day so we can ensure a great day for the couple, their guest AND their chosen wedding professionals.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I immediately learned that coming into the planning process late (as Day Of Coordinators often do) comes with its own challenges. You don’t have any chance to offer your expert advice during the couple’s decision making phase. There was always a lot of last minute scrambling and communication to make sure the wedding day was smooth. These days, I try to get on board with engaged couples right away so we can anticipate and proactively solve any logistic challenges. It can be difficult to convince a couple to book a “Day Of” coordinator right away, which is why I added so many valuable tools and resources as part of my signature package.
Another challenge has been the roller coaster of motherhood. I became an entrepreneur to have schedule flexibility and better work/life balance. I’ve always been highly motivated, so saying no or pulling back on my workload can be hard for me. I had my son in 2018, so now with two young kids, I have to remind myself that this business is a marathon and not a sprint.
As you know, we’re big fans of Your Favorite Day. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I never got into wedding planning because I wanted people to see all the amazing weddings I can produce. I am in the industry for the couples who have done a lot of their own research, have a lot of their own inspiration and have their own unique vision. I support them in making their vision come to life. Because of that, you will see a wide variety of styles showcased on my web presence and social media. My business is called Your Favorite Day because it is about you and what you want for your wedding day. I help you prepare and stay organized and focused so you can realize the best version of your vision.
I love for couples to feel prepared as they jump into their wedding planning. For that reason, I dedicate our Instagram to quick tips, tricks and wedding planning advice. I’m always up for a DM from a couple in the midst of planning. We also have a YouTube channel with more advice and interviews from already married couples. Even if you haven’t hired me, I want to help you with your wedding!
I also invest fully in myself and my business with certifications and continuing education. I’m always learning new ways to elevate the brand and our services. I became a certified wedding planner within my first year. Just last fall I received my Master Certified Wedding Planner designation with The Bridal Society.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Setting expectations with your clients and colleagues is really important. Make it crystal clear what you will handle and what you will not. Also, make it clear when you work and when you do not. “Working from home” has its advantages, but if you’re not careful, you will work around the clock. Technology that connects us all constantly is great… until it’s not. Take time to disconnect for a bit but make sure the people depending on you are expecting that.
