Hi Calvin, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
There are many battles we are fighting in our county. Racial injustice and discrimination, mental and physical health and a global pandemic.
Fit for peace, incorporated is a non profit organization dedicated to the health and wellness of the black community. We belive through physical fitness, nutritional education, and charity, we can build a better tomorrow, today.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Just like with any business, there have been some ups and downs behind the scenes but the love and support from the community has been overwhelming.
Through our wonderful volunteers, donors, collaborations with other non profit organizations, Orange county Police department, local vendors and artists we are able to make an impact in the greater Orlando area and bring awareness to our cause.
We’ve been impressed with Fit For Peace, Inc., but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We want to continue to instill the benefits of health and wellness in our lower socioeconomic communities where it’s needed most.
We’re currently focusing on our youth. In collaboration with Hope Dealing Mindset, Inc. and the city of Orlando, we’ve created an eight week program, Hope and a Healthy Way. Our focus is geared towards mentorship and wellness. We meet three days a week at the Northwest Community Center in which we discuss matters of self improvement, nutrition, and physical fitness.
We assess our kids, ask what they look to acquire from the program, and set our intentions on achieving these goals.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Although it maybe cliche, the sky is literally the limit when it comes to the potential and where we look to take our company within the next 5-10 years. We’re only going to keep growing as long as we continue to have faith, work diligently, and trust God. We will give back to our communities and youth now, so when they grow older it will be apart of their lifestyle permanently.
