Meet Aaron and David Mylott of The Waffle Bros

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaron and David Mylott

We appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
We were both furloughed from our jobs in Orlando shortly after moving down here from Long Island, New York. We were tired of sitting around and not being able to work, so we started brainstorming ideas for our own business. With the uncertainty of the pandemic, we wanted to be our own bosses and invest in ourselves. Eventually, we decided on a waffle truck, which we named, “The Waffle Bros.” We have both worked in the food industry for a while, so it felt right. Starting the truck took months of planning, research, discussion, and persistence to get to what we have today, but has been more than worth it.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Honestly, almost everything has fallen into place during our journey searching for a truck and meeting the right people to assist us. The struggles began when we needed to obtain permits and licensure. Because of COVID most offices were closed and websites were backed up for weeks. On top of that, after we got our completed truck, someone messed it up causing thousands of dollars in repairs. And of course, we’re actual brothers; we lived together while building this business, so there were definitely arguments and times we didn’t see eye to eye, but we have gotten a lot better at being business partners and we’re enjoying every bit of it.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We are a gourmet Liege Waffle Truck that specializes in satisfying your sweet tooth. We offer delicious waffles, loaded with your favorite bases (nutella, fluff, cannoli, cool whip, etc.), then topped with treats like cereal, fruit, candy, drizzle, and ice cream. For those craving something savory, we serve our special “Chicken and Waffles” covered with our famous sweet and spicy syrup.

Our customers are special to us so we try our best to meet as many people as possible and to get them to come see us again. Our customer service is what sets us apart. Having a big truck with a clean, shiny inside is nice but having customers come back and tell you that your food was amazing is the best feeling. We want the readers to know that we don’t only go to big events and farmer’s markets. We offer private catering for all occasions!

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
We would define success as being able to work with our family and friends at events and create a living while doing it. Making money is obviously the goal overall, but having the ability to be a positive force in the community with your family by your side is the best.
