Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaron Walker.
Hi Aaron, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have been involved in fitness & sports all my life and after I left high school, I joined the military. During my time in the military, I would send small workouts to my friends back home, I even considered being a drill SGT at a certain point of my career but I hated long-distance running so decided not to. After I left the military I started school, and during my time I would still create small workouts for people who wanted to go the gym. While I was in school, I started interning at a recording studio. I gained about 15-20 lbs. eating fast food, so I started doing MMA training to get it off. I fell in love with being in the gym and hated being in the studio more and more over time. I wanted to try something different so I scheduled a fight 4 months after training. I needed a personal trainer to get me in shape, so I hired my very first trainer. The experience was TERRIBLE! He made it his personal goal to make me sick and I didn’t want to go back to him; I let him keep the money actually. I signed up for NPTI, a school in Winter Park, FL to teach me the Foundation so I could train myself. While I was there my teacher noticed I had a knack for training clients and told me to consider the career instead of just doing as a method to train myself. I took that advice and he was right. I love what I do and wouldn’t go back to anything else!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Being a personal trainer hasn’t been smooth at all. The challenge of working for a gym who only wanted money and didn’t care about the clients, and learning how to manage so many personalities. It can be challenging soaking in a lot of information every day. Not all information is positive, and you can bring that energy back home. Learning how to dump all the negativity you hear/face is a constant reminder to always stay positive for my clients.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Awalk fitness is a business that is here to help serve the community of Orlando.
I am a Personal trainer that is goal-oriented, intrinsically driven, result-focused, and looks to improve each and every client’s lifestyle with health, fitness, and nutrition to optimize each client’s performance, and quality of life. Not only will you learn technique, skill, and independence with me you will also improve your strength, speed, flexibility, health, self-defense, explosiveness, conditioning, self-confidence, mobility, weight loss, or overall quality of life.
The things that set me apart is how much attention I pay to each client I have. I want to see your form better, I want to see you get in the dress you want, Etc. Your happiness is my happiness.
The thing I enjoy most about being a personal trainer is results. I take my job personally and I love to see the happiness in each and every client that I work with when they notice a change over time. Whether it’s improving their one-rep max, their cardio, or overall health, it just gives me a joy and sense of accomplishment. If you’re not getting results with me then you will not see me happy.
I want the readers to know I am happy doing what I do. There’s a lot of people who aren’t happy with who they are or how their life is going. Whether I’m able to touch one person or one thousand, I am genuinely happy.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Don’t quit your current job until your business is able to sustain your current lifestyle. Also, don’t be afraid to be confident. Believe in anything you’re doing whether you’re starting a restaurant or selling kitchenware, be confident, take steps back if you have to, but never give up.
