Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam & Jaci Nicholson.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Nickels Basketball was inspired by our love for the game. Jaci and I have been together for 15 years and basketball is what brought us together. Now, I am able to coach and train my own boys and other kids in the community. A little over a year ago we wanted to figure out a way to continue being around the sport we love but also give back to our community. This is where Nickels Basketball was born. Nickels is a local basketball brand in the central Florida area. Nickels basketballs are high in quality and affordable in price. Perfect for anyone.
Shortly after starting Nickels we wanted to give back even more. This is why 10% of all sales goes towards our Nickels Student Athlete Scholarship Fund.
At the end of the day Nickels Basketball is about family and that is what we stand for.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
For the most part, it has been a smooth road. The expectations are to keep growing our brand, however, it is a very competitive industry. We have been 99% organic in our growth by word of mouth or social media. We do not spend $1000s of dollars on ads to get our brand out there. This way can be difficult and often times a slow incline.
Some weeks we will have 10-15 kids at a training sessions and some weeks we may have 1.
The main obstacles we face is actually finding gym time for trainings and finding quality suppliers for our merchandise and equipment.

We are everything basketball. Training, coaching(paid and volunteer), pending patented Nickels logo, Nickels basketballs and clothing brand. We are attempting to be a one stop shop for basketball.
Nickels is a family brand. We are known for the love and passion we have for the sport and for the ones we play, coach, train and develop with. Our brand is starting at a foundation of honesty, discipline and motivation.
Like anything in life, the brand represents “the sky is limit”. There are no shortcuts when it comes to success and we are no stranger to this. Hard work and consistency go hand and hand when it comes to growth and success.
If there is one thing we hope that comes out of Nickels Basketball it is that we hope our basketballs become a household name one day and that portions of all sales from our basketballs can one day help us give away a few full tuition scholarship each year.
