Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex House.
Hi Alex, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
This journey started when I was in the minor leagues with the Houston Astros. I was home for the off-season and decided I wanted to give back to community and the ballplayers in the area so I started to give lessons in a park with a couple kids. As time went on those few kids turned into quite a few. I knew I had to go back to go play for the Astros so I asked a good friend of mine Ivan coutinho who just got done playing for Bethune cookman if he wanted to do lessons with me and when I went back to the astros he had a good client base to work with and when I came back for offseason we would work together again and I would have a offseason job lined up. Then once my baseball career was coming to an end I had to make a choice do I want to keep playing or do I want to start my life outside of playing and really take House of Arms Baseball to the next step. Once covid hit thats what I decided to do. I hired a few of my other friends that I played with and trusted and knew would be great teaching kids Blake sanderson with the Toronto blue jays and Eric Keating lefty pitcher with FAU. This is when this all really took off. We finally merged to not just doing pitching and offering hitting fielding and agility. We hired on Tyler krabbe former catcher with houston astros. Billy cooke with seattle mariners. I realized wow we need more space and we are doing really well so I opened up our own training facility in downtown sanford and has been a blessing. We get to have our own space, doing what we love and teach these ballplayers day in and out. Once we got settled into our new space we added on Devin Raftery former pitcher with Houston Astros and Jordan Aldmovar former college catcher.
We train kids from 8 years old to professionals and have had 4 players drafted and over 100 players sign to respected colleges in just 3 years! We now have a full training staff of all former pro and D1 players training the kids and offering (pitching, fielding, hitting, strength and speed, mental coaching and much more)!
None of this would happen without the players and parents trusting us to take their player to the next step every time they step foot in our facility. We strive daily to make our players in our community not only great ballplayers but also great people. We are much more than baseball here.
Come join the House of arms baseball experience! We are growing everyday and are looking to expand around Florida and the south East. This is just the beginning!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been a blessing to work with the players of central Florida and give back and help watch our players grow into their careers!
As you know, we’re big fans of House of Arms Baseball . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We do run by appointment only. The best way to reach us is through our work phone 407-353-7108 or our website houseofarms.com
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Thankfully I have not always had the best of luck with things but in my life and career I learned to keep pushing and work through problems along the way and take one thing at a time. And to control what I can control!
