Today we’d like to introduce you to Alfredo Barrott.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I relocated from St. Thomas, USVI to attend the University of Central Florida to obtain a degree in Civil Engineering in 1992, in which I received a Bachelor of Science in 1999 along with an Associates of Art in General Studies. My journey started working with Skanska USA Building, Inc fka Beers Construction. My curiosity and deep passion for carpentry and understanding of various building methods pushed me to pursue a career within the construction industry. I credit my high school carpentry teacher for sparking my interest in the industry. After working a few years for large and local construction companies such as PCL Construction Services, HJ High Construction, Whiting-Turner Contracting Company, and DL Harkins Construction LLC. I launched Barrott Services, LLC in 2014 which started out providing handyman services and renovations in the residential market. Wanting to expand more into the commercial market and take on larger projects, I renamed the company to ADB Building Solutions LLC in 2020. Making the decision to change the name was one of the best decisions I ever made. The decision has provided a growth of 43% in business since 2020. Today, we provide general contracting/construction management, estimating consultation, and interior alterations, tenant improvement, and renovations within medical office spaces, out-patient surgery centers, general office spaces, retail spaces, and boutique restaurants. Last, we also do residential rehab projects for Orange County Housing & Community Development.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The journey was not a smooth one for sure, there was definitely challenges along the way and still continue to be challenges that we have face and work our way through. Some of the biggest struggles we faced are lack of funding to maintain positive cash flow, consistency in revenue, & finding good employees. The construction industry can be a cyclical industry, and it takes time for a small company to build a name for themselves and build a level of trust with new clients. The Florida market is saturated with lots of General Contractors and the bad put a stain on the industry to the point most clients think the worst of a General Contractor before letting them prove themselves.

With us a client is able to get one on one interaction and work with a company that can adapt to their needs or business schedule and make necessary adjustments in a timely manner. We pride ourselves on building projects that stay close as possible to the construction budget provided with minimal to no change orders. ADB is known for being a problem solver, we find solutions to problems that are cost effective and keep project cost from escalating with our proactive approach. From getting clients through the design stage, permitting and into construction, we become that trusted partner that you can count on.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Our industry is constantly trying to streamline practices and procedures and trying to become more efficient. With the use of BIM and 3D modeling to assist in planning and collaborations among multiple professionals to support the entire lifestyle of a project from concept and design to construction, operation and demolition of renovation, we are seeing the use of such tools to help decrease the design time on projects, establish as-builts, data retention, and create maintenance schedules after completion of a project. With AI coming into the market, we are seeing software companies such as Autodesk, Togal AI, Procore, etc. utilizing AI to speed up estimating, collection of quantity takeoffs, creation of contracts, certain administrative duties in hopes of making companies more efficient and allow them to do certain tasks with less personnel. One of the biggest trend in construction is learning new ways to better mitigate your risks.
Pricing:
- In terms of pricing, I would say, not every change that takes place in our economy warrants rapid price increases in our industry
