Hi Amarilis — nickname “AMA”, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My passion for wellness and skincare started when I was very young. For me, a skincare routine was never just about just products—it was a daily self-care ritual, a way of connecting and taking care of myself inside and out.
Early on, I worked in sales for a beauty company, which gave me my first exposure to the skincare industry. I learned a lot about ingredients, product formulations and skin health in general. But it wasn’t until I permanently moved to the United States with my two children that I decided to fully commit my professional career to esthetics. As a single mother, I knew I wanted to build something meaningful—not just for myself, but for my kids’ future as well.
I started with very limited resources, working out of a tiny treatment room so small I could barely move around the esthetic bed to treat my clients. I didn’t know anybody in the area, had no clientele, a brand-new Instagram page with zero followers, and a lot of determination. That’s how I launched my first business, which eventually grew into what is now known as AMA Skin Studio—a professional space dedicated to customized, results-driven treatments and long-term skin health.
I quickly realized in the early stage of my business that caring for my client’s skin wasn’t just about beauty and skincare—it was about confidence and self-esteem as well. I’ve worked with women struggled with sensitive or reactive skin, and I wanted to give them results-driven treatments that truly made a difference to change their skin health and life forever. I felt there was a need for a professional space that focused not only on treatments but also on education and long-term benefits rather than short term gains. AMA Skin Studio fills that void— it is a place where my clients feel comfortable, cared for, and guided through their skincare journey with personalized skincare consultation, customized facials and expert skin advice. Together, we work as a team to develop an entire skincare journey based on their main skin concerns to achieve their desired skin goals.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The beginning was anything but easy. As a single mother in a new country, I started from zero with no clientele, no network, very limited resources and a brand new Instagram page with zero followers. My first treatment room was so small I could barely move around the bed to treat clients. I often worked long hours with very little return, and there were moments when the challenges felt overwhelming. Balancing motherhood, finances and the dream of building something bigger was a test of both resilience and faith. But every obstacle made me stronger. I learned to be resourceful, to lean into my creativity, and to focus on building authentic relationships with every client who trusted me… Slowly but surely, one appointment at a time and that’s where the slogan “Changing complexions one face at a time” comes from.
What started as AMA Heavenly Skin in that tiny room evolved into AMA Skin Studio, a space that I am so proud of, where I could bring not only treatments but also education and long-term solutions to women and men who struggled with their skin.
Those early-day struggles also gave me a deeper understanding of what my clients truly need from me and skincare itself. Products that are effective, gentle and trustworthy. That insight became the foundation of my next chapter, the creation of KREMOLOGIE™. The challenges I faced as an esthetician and business owner gave me the drive to launch what will lead many with sensitive skin to achieve lasting results at home! In many ways the hardest moments of my journey prepared me to build something bigger than I ever imagined.
