Exploring Life & Business with Angie Scott of Angie Scott Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angie Scott

Hi Angie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I would love to share a little of my story! It’s been quite an adventure. When I was little, I was always playing with my Barbies and setting up these little scenes, like I was directing my own mini photoshoots and mini weddings with Barbie and Ken. My mom also recorded and took photos of everything, so now we have countless home videos and photo albums from my childhood. I love looking back at those, I guess you could say I’ve always had a thing for capturing moments and reliving memories through videos and photos.

And, I absolutely adore 90s and early 2000s rom-coms! You know, the ones where you just feel all warm and fuzzy inside? Those movies really taught me the beauty of genuine emotions, and that’s what I try to bring to my wedding photography. I want to capture those real, heartfelt moments that feel like they’re straight out of a sweet love story.

In 2022, my husband and I decided to pack up and move from St. Louis to sunny Orlando! He’s a pastor at a church here, and it’s been such a wonderful community to be a part of. I’m also a homeschooling mom to my two amazing daughters. It’s definitely a balancing act, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!

So, from my childhood Barbie ‘photoshoots’ to capturing real-life love stories here in Orlando, and balancing it all with homeschooling, it’s been such a fulfilling journey. I feel so blessed to do what I love, and I’m just so excited to see where God takes my business next!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Oh, definitely not a perfectly smooth road! But honestly, I think those bumps along the way are what make the journey so much richer.

One of the biggest struggles, especially when we first moved to Orlando, was building my client base from scratch. Leaving St. Louis meant leaving behind a network I’d built over time. It was a bit daunting to start over, but it also forced me to really put myself out there and connect with new people, which has been a blessing.

And, of course, balancing homeschooling with running a photography business is a constant juggling act. There are days when I feel like I’m pulled in a million different directions! Finding that balance between being a mom, a teacher, and a business owner definitely took some time, a lot of trial and error, and fully trusting in God.

Also, I’d say the creative side of things has its challenges too. In this industry, it’s so important to stay inspired and keep your work fresh. There are times when I’ve felt a bit of creative burnout, especially after a busy season. But I’ve learned that taking time for myself, exploring new things, and just letting myself recharge is essential.

But, you know, through all the struggles, I’ve learned so much. I’ve become more resilient, more organized, and more confident in my abilities. And honestly, I wouldn’t trade those experiences for anything. They’ve made me a better photographer and a better mom, and I’m so grateful for the journey.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Absolutely! So, Angie Scott Photography is all about capturing genuine love stories, primarily weddings and families, right here in Orlando and The Space Coast. My business is built on the foundation of creating a warm, comfortable experience for my clients, so they can truly be themselves in front of the camera.

I specialize in capturing those authentic, candid moments that feel like they’re straight out of a romantic comedy – the real smiles, the heartfelt glances, the pure joy. That’s what I’m known for. I want my clients to look back at their photos and relive the emotions of their special day, not just see posed portraits.

What sets me apart, I believe, is my genuine connection with my clients. I take the time to get to know them, understand their vision, and build a relationship based on trust. Plus, my love for those classic rom-coms really infuses my work with a sense of timeless romance, which is why I also take video for my clients as well. I love providing free iPhone videos because they capture raw, candid moments that complement the professional photography footage, offering a truly complete and personal memory of my clients special day.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the feedback I consistently receive about how comfortable I make people feel. It’s incredibly rewarding to know that I’m not just taking photos, but creating a positive and memorable experience. I want your readers to know that Angie Scott Photography is more than just a service; it’s a partnership. I’m here to capture the essence of their love story, to create images that will be cherished for generations. And I’m committed to providing a personalized, heartfelt experience every step of the way. I want to be someone that people feel like they know, and trust, and that they can be their genuine selves around.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
That’s a great question! I think the wedding photography industry is always evolving, and it’s exciting to think about where it’s headed.

Over the next 5-10 years, I definitely see a continued shift towards authenticity and capturing genuine moments. People are increasingly valuing real emotions over perfectly posed shots. I believe the demand for documentary-style wedding photography will continue to grow, as couples seek to capture the true essence of their day.

I also foresee a greater emphasis on personalized experiences. Couples are looking for photographers who not only take beautiful photos but also connect with them on a personal level. They want someone who understands their vision and can tailor their services to meet their unique needs. This is where my focus on building genuine connections with my clients really comes into play.

Technology will also play a significant role. AI tools, while still developing, are likely to influence editing and potentially even shooting workflows. However, I believe the human element – the ability to connect with people, capture emotions, and tell a story – will remain irreplaceable.

Another trend I see growing is the desire for more intimate, intentional weddings. Elopements, micro-weddings, and destination weddings are becoming increasingly popular, as couples prioritize experiences over large, traditional celebrations. This shift aligns perfectly with my love for capturing authentic moments in beautiful settings.

In essence, I believe the future of wedding photography lies in authenticity, personalization, and a deep understanding of the human connection. As a photographer, I’m committed to staying ahead of these trends and continuing to provide my clients with a truly exceptional experience.
