A Legacy of Love, Craft, and Community: The Story of Charms D’Oro
Our family jewelry business began as a humble dream in the early 1990s, founded by my father-in-law and mother-in-law — a strong, hardworking team who poured their hearts and time into building something lasting. They started small, opening Charms D’Oro in the Altamonte Mall. Through long hours and deep commitment, they earned the trust of the community and flourished there for over a decade.
Eventually, they moved the business to the Sanford Mall, where they continued to serve with the same warmth and integrity. But this time we were called Gold King Fine Jewelers. In the 2000s, after completing our education in business, my spouse and I joined the family business. We brought with us a fresh perspective and modern tools, hoping to complement the legacy already in place.
For over 25 years, we proudly served the Sanford community, forming deep connections with generations of customers. Recently, we felt called to return to our roots — back to the Altamonte Mall — where it all began. It feels like coming home.
At Gold King Fine Jewelers, we strive to provide more than just fine jewelry and watches. We offer a welcoming, family-oriented atmosphere where every customer is treated like a friend. Nothing brings us more joy than seeing familiar faces walk through our doors — people who started as customers and are now part of our extended family.
Jewelry has a way of marking life’s most meaningful moments, and we’re honored to be a part of those celebrations. Whether creating custom pieces or helping find the perfect gift, we do it all with love and gratitude.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like any small business, we’ve had our share of challenges — and the COVID-19 pandemic was one of the toughest. We had to close for a month, but even during that uncertain time, we stayed focused on how we could safely reopen and serve our community. When we did reopen, it was just my spouse and me working side by side. We made the decision not to bring in employees out of concern for their health and to protect our parents, who are an integral part of our lives. It was a difficult period, but our commitment to our customers and to each other helped us get through it. Looking back, it only made us stronger as a family and as a business.
