Today we’d like to introduce you to Ben Homan.
Hi Ben, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Sure. I started out with a degree in Graphic Design and Business from Liberty University, and pretty early on I realized I wasn’t just passionate about design — I was passionate about using creativity to solve real-world problems and help others grow. That’s what led me to launch Skillful Antics, my boutique creative agency. It started small — just me, some big ideas, and a lot of late nights — but over time it grew into a thriving web design and marketing firm, serving clients across a wide range of industries.
Along the way, I became a managing partner in a few other startups and continued to stay deeply involved in my local community, volunteering as a board member for several nonprofits. I’ve always believed in building things that last longer than I do — whether that’s businesses, family legacy, or meaningful relationships.
Personally, I’m a father to six amazing kids — some biological, some adopted — and raising them has shaped a lot of how I approach life and leadership. I’m also a man of faith, and that drives a lot of the decisions I make and the way I serve others, whether in business, ministry, or parenting.
Where I am today is really a blend of all of that — creative entrepreneurship, deep community roots, a focus on legacy, and a desire to keep learning and investing in people. I’m always looking for meaningful opportunities that bring purpose and impact together.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There were seasons early on where I had more vision than cash flow, trying to grow a business while raising a family and juggling everything that comes with that. Learning how to lead others, manage clients, and keep things sustainable took time — and I made my share of mistakes. There were months where I questioned if it was all going to work or if I should just go get a “normal” job.
On the personal side, going through a divorce was a deeply painful chapter, especially while raising six kids. Balancing fatherhood, faith, and business during that time wasn’t easy, but it forced me to lean into what mattered most — relationships, humility, and grace. It also gave me a new level of empathy for others going through tough things while trying to stay on mission.
I’ve learned that struggle doesn’t always mean failure — sometimes it’s just a reminder to slow down, to adjust, or to grow. And honestly, the road has been far more meaningful because of the setbacks. They refined me, and they gave me a deeper sense of purpose.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Skillful Antics?

Skillful Antics is here to make digital feel human again.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
Absolutely — no journey like this happens alone.
I’ve been incredibly blessed to have a long list of people who’ve poured into me and the business along the way. First, I have to give credit to my family — especially my kids — for being both my motivation and my grounding force. They remind me why I do what I do and help keep me focused on what matters most.
At the top of that list is my dad, Greg. He played a huge role in shaping who I am today. He instilled in me a strong work ethic, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a deep sense of integrity. Watching him build and lead with character taught me that success isn’t just about what you build, but how you build it and who you become in the process.
In terms of mentors, Garry has been a major influence — a close friend and guide who challenged me to think bigger but stay grounded in faith and humility. And Judah, a friend I met abroad while doing missions, showed me what it looks like to lead through service and grit, even when the path is uncertain. Both of them have shaped how I show up as a business owner, a father, and a man of faith.
From a team standpoint, I’ve had the privilege of working with some incredibly talented people over the years — developers, designers, and marketers — people who bought into the mission of Skillful Antics and treated it like it was their own. Their creativity and commitment have elevated the work far beyond what I could do alone.
And finally, our clients — especially the early ones who took a chance on me when Skillful Antics was just getting off the ground. They didn’t just hire a vendor — they trusted a vision. Some of those same clients are still with us today, and I’m forever grateful for their loyalty and belief.
So yeah — the credit isn’t mine alone. It belongs to a village of people who’ve helped build this from the ground up.
