Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassiana Domingues

Hi Cassiana, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m Cassiana, BERRIES founder and pastry chef.
I’m also a nutritionist and worked with athletes for 12 years in Brazil, where I am from. However, since I was little, I have always loved to make sweets and desserts for my family. For this reason, I went back to college when I moved to Florida, and three years later I got my AS degree in Baking and Pastry Management from Valencia College. Those three years in college were an amazing experience for me when I met a lot of loving people, great chefs and learned so much. I felt embraced and excited to pursue my dream: becoming a pastry chef and uniting it with nutrition, my two passions in one business.
Thus, BERRIES was born, and our mission is to bring joy and health through inclusive desserts so that everyone can celebrate life.
My next goal is to acquire a physical store for BERRIES, with cross-contamination-free kitchen and be able to provide completely safe desserts for allergy sufferers.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I believe that any entrepreneur faces challenges that need to be overcome on a daily basis.
As an immigrant, I have certainly faced several challenges that a change of country demands, but overall, I can say that I have met wonderful people who have helped me overcome them. And I confess that returning to college after 15 years in the job market, and still in a different country, was something that brought me countless experiences.
Since I started BERRIES in 2021, I have faced several challenges: creating recipes with ingredients that are unusual in confectionery (there’s been a bunch of tests until I feel satisfied with the result), being 100% responsible for the company and balancing work with chores at home and life as a mother, growing my network to optimize sales, are the main ones.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
BERRIES is a company specializing in inclusive desserts for people with some type of dietary restriction (intolerance or allergy), and/or for people who want to take care of their health by eating more nutritious and healthy foods.
The menu consists of products made with gluten-free ingredients, and with lactose-free, dairy-free, sugar-free and some vegan options. All of our ingredients are rigorously selected, seeking the balance between fantastic flavor and nutritional quality.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
For now, as a cottage baker, I only work on-demand for the local community in the Orlando area, especially Winter Garden. To place your order, simply do it directly through our website.

We will soon have some great news for the community, providing greater and better access to our specialty desserts.
