Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was fortunate to cross paths with someone who became an amazing mentor to me, Katie Priep who owned a very successful cleaning company at the time that I was graduating college. I worked for her until I secured a full-time job, and during that time, I realized I could help others while doing something I loved. However, I felt unfulfilled in my job and wanted to make a bigger impact in my community. Driven by my passion for cleaning, I decided to take a leap of faith and start my own business.
Although the beginning was slow, word of mouth helped me build a strong client base, and my schedule quickly filled up. By July 2024, my husband Michael recognized the need for growth, and together, we began hiring subcontractors. With the guidance of great mentors in marketing and business operations, we’ve steadily expanded.
Looking back to April 2023 when I was running the business solo, I’m proud of how far we’ve come. Now, with a fantastic team and my husband as COO, we’re excited about the future and the limitless potential for Keeping It Clean With Chloe.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
We’ve faced challenges along the way, particularly when we pursued a promising project from a job site. It was a year-long contract with a condo complex that promised full-time work for our subcontractors. Unfortunately, it turned out to be an elaborate scam, leaving us financially drained and victims of identity fraud.
Though it was a tough experience for a small business, we’re grateful it happened early, while we were still getting established. It taught us the importance of thorough due diligence and the need for stronger protective processes. While the loss was significant, we’ve had many successes since, and we’ve learned valuable lessons that have fueled our growth.
