Today we’d like to introduce you to Desiree Bailey.
Hi Desiree, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I began my career in corporate strategy, data analysis, and business process engineering — building systems that help large organizations run smarter and scale faster. I’ve always been passionate about solving problems, streamlining workflows, and using data to drive meaningful results.
Over time, I realized that many small business owners were operating with incredible passion — but without access to the same strategic and technical tools that power bigger enterprises. That’s when The Power Play by Desiree was born.
Through my consulting work, I help businesses harness the power of strategy, data, and technology to grow with intention. From optimizing operations to enhancing executive presence, I guide my clients in building brands that not only perform — but lead.
I believe when you combine strategic clarity with strong visual presence and smart tech, you create momentum that can’t be ignored. That’s the Power Play.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not — but I wouldn’t trade the journey.
Balancing a corporate career while building my business wasn’t easy. I often found myself navigating burnout, imposter syndrome, and the pressure to prove I belonged in both boardrooms and branding spaces. There were moments where the data didn’t align, the tech didn’t cooperate, or the vision felt bigger than the resources I had.
One of the biggest challenges was learning how to trust my instincts as much as my expertise — especially when blending strategy with creativity. I had to unlearn the belief that I had to pick one lane. The truth is, my strength is in the fusion — combining analytics with image, structure with style, and tech with human connection.
There were also seasons of self-doubt, financial sacrifice, and learning to say “no” to clients or opportunities that didn’t align. But every challenge sharpened my focus, strengthened my voice, and made me more intentional about the kind of impact I want to have.
I don’t see the road as smooth or rough — I see it as powerful. Because it’s mine.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
The Power Play by Desiree is a strategy-first consulting brand that helps small businesses grow with clarity, confidence, and structure. We specialize in business growth strategy, data analysis, process engineering, and executive brand presence — combining the precision of numbers with the power of image.
What sets us apart is our ability to merge operational intelligence with personal brand elevation. Whether you’re a service provider, entrepreneur, or executive, we don’t just focus on how your business runs — we help you show up powerfully in the market and in the mirror.
We use data and technology to simplify decision-making, improve systems, and identify opportunities for growth. And we layer that with sharp positioning, presence coaching, and visual strategy to make sure you’re not just seen — but remembered.
We’re known for helping clients:
• Clarify their brand and business model
• Streamline operations and improve profitability

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
The best networking starts with genuine connection — not just asking, but adding value. When seeking a mentor or expanding your circle, lead with curiosity, show up authentically, and be bold enough to follow up.
I’ve learned that mentorship doesn’t always come with a title — some of the most powerful guidance comes through meaningful conversations and shared spaces.
That’s why I co-host Swipe Right: The Networking Edit — a curated experience designed to turn small talk into real alignment. My advice? Put yourself in rooms that feel like opportunity — and don’t be afraid to speak up when you get there.
