Today we’d like to introduce you to Dominique Magwood.
Hi Dominique, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
When me and my husband met almost 11 years ago I had a background in photography and my husband had a background in videography. So it only makes sense to combine our skills and to create a business that caters to not only both but multimedia as a whole. From there so many opportunities have presented themselves as as well as the launch of Niq-Liq’s and More. Seeing as that we own multiple businesses now we don’t really fit into a category. Niq-Liq’s came about because we were used to throwing and hosting parties and I just became interested in came interested in specialty bartending which then turn into the baking and treatmaking what I when I try to have food and treatspresented at parties. The multimedia business flourished as my husband got more into independent films and music videos and such.. Which did open up opportunities to work with organizations such as the red Table Talk, Jazz on the Lawn, JingleBall and more. And now we have launched a press on nail business to cater to women on the go. I love that we can grow and adapt to whatever our circumstances are at the time without having to compromise what we stand for and believe in. We love what we do and can make time for family while doing it.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Just like anything worth having it’s worth fighting for. We have overcome a lot of obstacles since we began. We have stopped and started back several different times but different times to figure out what works and what doesn’t. It hasn’t been perfect of course we didn’t expect for it to be a cake walk especially with how both of us were raised differently and see things differently and view situations differently at times it has caused us to clash but were constantly reminded of the bigger picture and that helps in the end. So yes I would have to say that there has been struggles along the way but what good adventure doesn’t?
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We have 3 completely different businesses so I’ll give you a quick overview of each.. Ti-22 Multimedia Productions It’s a business that caters to our fellow business owners. Not only do we offer branding packages that allow other business owners to be able to market for their own businesses but it also serves as cross-promotion. Anything that we work on and post for other business owners not only reaches out to our audience but it also allows them to expand their reach. We don’t only cater to business owners though we do also cover parties events in such.
Niq-Liq’s Is our bartending/baking treat business. I am a licensed bartender that specializes in candy drinks and colorful yet eye-catching cocktails. We also provide sweet treats for any event such as birthday parties, celebrations, bachelor parties and more. Our cakes have taken the city by store with the amount of work that goes into the details.
exPRESSional Luxury PressOn Nails Is our luxury press on line. That allows women on the go to not only be able to wear salon quality work but also make a statement while doing it. Not every woman has time in her schedule to be able to go sit at a nail shop for hours So we bring that luxury quality straight to your home. Why can’t I have bomb nails for a fraction of the price and be able to wear them multiple times?! 😊
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Be very selective and who you choose choose to do business wife.. Networking is great and can be beneficial if done correctly. Like anything, there are pros and cons. Don’t ever show your entire hand. We will always advocate for small businesses but we have learned that not every business owner has the same intentions or the same drive or the same dedication. So we can just do the best we can with what we’re given.
