Exploring Life & Business with Gissel Ortega of Gissel Ortega LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gissel Ortega.

Hi Gissel, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was born in the Dominican Republic and moved to the Bronx, New York, when I was just five years old. Growing up in the city shaped my resilience and drive, but becoming a mother in my early twenties shifted everything. In 2010, I made the life-changing decision to relocate to Orlando to give my daughter a better life and more opportunity.

At the time, I was a single mom living paycheck to paycheck. Buying my first home in my twenties felt impossible, but I did it. That experience changed my life. It showed me firsthand how powerful homeownership can be, especially for someone who didn’t grow up thinking it was within reach.

That moment is what lit the fire in me to become a Realtor. I knew I wanted to help others, especially renters, realize that it is possible. You don’t know what you don’t know, and I’ve made it my mission to educate and guide first-time homebuyers through a process that often feels overwhelming or out of reach. I’ve walked in their shoes, and now I get to walk beside them.

Later on, I discovered something entirely new that I fell in love with: acting. I started taking classes and auditioning, and I was surprised by how much it lit me up. It became another way to express myself, to connect with others, and to keep growing.

Today, I’m a full-time Realtor, an actress, and a content creator blending all parts of my journey, including motherhood, business, and creativity, into something that feels authentic and fulfilling.

It hasn’t always been easy, but it’s always been worth it. I’m proof that you don’t have to choose just one path. You can create your own.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not a smooth road, but every bump along the way taught me something important.

When I became a single mom in my early twenties, I was living paycheck to paycheck and trying to figure out how to build a stable life for my daughter. I didn’t have financial guidance, support systems, or a clear roadmap, so I had to learn everything through experience. Buying my first home was a huge accomplishment, but it came with a lot of doubt and fear. I didn’t know anyone in the same situation who had done it before, and I was terrified of making a mistake.

Starting a career in real estate also had its challenges. It’s not a steady paycheck, and it requires a lot of discipline, networking, and faith in yourself. There were moments I questioned if I had made the right decision, especially when deals fell through or I went months without a closing.

Then, stepping into acting, something completely new to me, came with its own set of fears. I was putting myself out there in a vulnerable way, often surrounded by people who had years of experience or formal training. But I pushed through the discomfort because I genuinely fell in love with the craft.

Balancing everything, being a mom, running a business, and pursuing acting, hasn’t always been easy. There were times I felt stretched thin or overwhelmed, but I’ve learned to lean into my “why” and keep showing up, even when things feel uncertain.

The road has been full of twists, but every challenge shaped me into who I am today.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Gissel Ortega LLC?
I’m a Florida-based Realtor with LPT Realty, and I specialize in helping first-time homebuyers, especially renters who never thought they could own a home. My mission is deeply personal. I bought my first home as a single mom in my twenties while living paycheck to paycheck. That experience showed me how life-changing homeownership can be, and it’s what inspired me to help others do the same.

I’m known for making the home buying process feel less intimidating and more empowering. I educate my clients every step of the way and break things down in a way that makes sense, even if it’s their very first time hearing about credit scores, pre-approvals, or down payment assistance. I don’t just hand over keys. I walk my clients through every question, every emotion, and every decision, because I’ve been in their shoes.

What sets me apart is how real and relatable I am. I share behind-the-scenes moments on social media, talk openly about the ups and downs, and make sure people feel seen and supported. I want clients to feel like they’re working with someone who genuinely cares, not someone who just wants a commission check.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the trust I’ve built with my audience and the impact I’ve made. I’ve helped so many families go from renting to owning, and the best part is seeing their confidence grow through the process. I also love creating content that educates, inspires, and makes people laugh. Whether it’s a reel, a home tour, or a candid story, I want everything I put out to feel honest and helpful.

At the end of the day, I want people to know that buying a home is possible for them, even if they were told it wasn’t. My brand is all about guidance, education, and showing up as my authentic self to help others reach their goals.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
The most important quality that has led to my success is persistence. I don’t give up easily, even when things get hard or uncertain. Whether it was buying my first home as a single mom, starting a business with no safety net, or stepping into a completely new world like acting, I’ve always kept going. I believe that consistency, showing up even when it’s uncomfortable, and having the courage to figure things out along the way is what truly makes the difference.

I’m also big on being relatable and genuine. People connect with realness. I don’t try to be perfect. I just try to be honest, helpful, and human. That’s what builds trust, and in both real estate and content creation, trust is everything.
