Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeannette Medina.
Hi Jeannette, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I arrived in Florida 8 years ago (2016) from my beautiful Puerto Rico. I left behind many years of work, my family, friends, and a life full of achievements and experiences, but with a strong desire for self-improvement and in search of a better future for my children. With studies in Accounting, I worked as a Materials Manager at a hospital institution in Puerto Rico for 26 years. I was responsible for maintaining inventory, expense control, and logistics for 6 institutions, which brought me much satisfaction as I started as an office worker and climbed positions within the institution. As you can see, I accumulated extensive experience and knowledge that continue to be part of my professional achievements. Moving to Florida represented a new challenge, as although I had a basic understanding of the language, it would be here where I would face the language barrier that many of us impose on ourselves.
Additionally, I would have to start from scratch, like anyone arriving at a new destination. I came, settled in, and began the second challenge: finding a job where I could demonstrate my skills and knowledge. For 7 years, I worked for a frozen food company where I was responsible for inventory, which was my area of specialization. Later, within the same company, I transitioned to Customer Service, which allowed me to practice the English I had stored in my files. As a single mother, I was responsible for moving forward without fear; I had no other option. I had to prove to myself my capacity and determination to achieve goals, but also to teach my children that there are no obstacles we cannot overcome and that they could achieve their goals by being responsible, humble, and focused.
In 2018, I fell in love with real estate and began working part-time, dedicating myself 7 days a week. There are always angels on our path, and they, along with God, guided and accommodated me in the right place. I had to simultaneously hold both jobs until I became a top producer, which was my goal and what would allow me to leave my job full-time. It took me four years to achieve this, but with immense faith, I worked every day, attended to my clients secretly from my desk, and by 2021, I aimed to resign, but before that, I had to buy my new home. It was a challenge overcome, a long year, but I resigned the same week I signed what is now my home. I have always believed that having firm goals helps you persevere and stay firm to achieve them. I have managed to help many families today have their homes, families who do not live in Florida, and with just one call and videos, have trusted my work. This is gratifying.
The real estate field is not just a job for me but a passion. It is to serve, satisfy, and help people achieve a dream. It is to leave a mark, to be part of a very important decision in their lives, the financial investment that will change their destinies. The real estate sector is the feeling of achievement when we see the happiness in our clients when they receive the key to their new home. It is their sincere “thank you” that fills us with satisfaction. This passion for real estate allows me to turn clients into friends and even family. Each transaction is different; it will enable me to learn daily while building a bond of trust and supporting my clients.
On the other hand, it allows me to set my schedule, have flexibility, and achieve a balance between my personal and professional life. This will enable me to fulfill my responsibilities as a mother, friend, and real estate agent trained to offer excellent service to my clients. The real estate market is unpredictable, but I put my determination into practice in those moments. I remain firm in the main goal: to improve daily, learn, educate myself, and share my knowledge with colleagues. I remember that there are goals that I can only achieve with passion and perseverance, which are the keys to success.
Would it have been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
While my journey has been fulfilling and rewarding, it has sometimes been challenging. One of the major struggles I faced was starting anew in Florida after leaving behind my established career, family, and life in Puerto Rico. Adapting to a new environment and facing the language barrier were significant hurdles I had to overcome. As a single mother, balancing work, family responsibilities, and pursuing my career goals presented challenges. Sometimes, I felt overwhelmed, but my determination to provide a better future for my children kept me focused and motivated. Transitioning into the real estate industry was another significant challenge. While I was passionate about the field, building a client base and establishing myself as a top producer required dedication, hard work, and perseverance. It took several years of juggling multiple jobs and relentless effort to achieve my goals in the real estate sector. Despite these struggles, I remained steadfast in my determination to succeed. I firmly believe that facing and overcoming challenges is integral to personal and professional growth. Each obstacle I encountered served as a learning experience, ultimately shaping me into the resilient and successful individual I am today.
