Meet Jennifer Paris of WAXX BAR

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Paris.

Hi Jennifer, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hi Stephanie, thank you for having me. I moved here to central Florida in June of 2017. I was a single Mom on the struggle bus. The first year I had two dead end jobs in the esthetics field. While at work, a client came in to tell me about a salon that could accommodate me. I met with Jami-lyn Endsley and that’s when everything changed for me.

I opened WAXX BAR in September of 2018. The first year was a challenge for sure. I wouldn’t have made it if it wasn’t for Jami-lyn, owner of Blush Boutique and Salon. She cheered me on the whole way, never let me throw in the towel. I would work the front desk when I couldn’t pay for rent. I folded towels, washed hair, anything to pull my weight. At that point,  I was going to do anything to keep my business open.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Oh heck no, definitely not a smooth road at all! There were many days of blood, sweat, and tears, lots of tears! Some of my biggest struggles were finances, and mentally figuring out how my business was going to be successful. In my opinion, trial and error are key to success, especially when you open a business on limited funds. It’s not always rainbows and butterflies, that’s for sure!

We’ve been impressed with WAXX BAR, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Thank you so much! Well, here at WAXX BAR, I really make my clients feelings and comfortability my number one priority. It’s super important to me to make every single one of my clients feel confident in their skin. What sets me apart from others is that I have a special relationship with all of my clients. We laugh, we cry, we joke. We all have insecurities.

WAXX BAR’s reputation is and always will be the comfort and safeness for all of my clients. You’re not just a number when you visit, and that is everything to me.

Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
It was a huge risk to open a business with minimal funds. I didn’t want to take a line of credit. I felt like I had to prove myself to everyone, that was terrifying. I’m happy to say as of September 2021 it will be three years. The growth and support has been amazing and I have no plans of slowing down!
