Today we’d like to introduce you to Josiah Nobles.
Hi Josiah, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was in 9th grade yearbook when my passion started for photography. I began using the school’s camera for portraits at the school just to practice. Eventually, I worked and saved for my first camera, the Canon EOS 250D. I began using this to start my business as a freelance photographer. I started doing portraits, wildlife, and sports photography. Eventually, I was able to shoot two different weddings. I then saved up to better my equipment and to have a second camera. That camera was the Canon RP. I started working on my website and further growing my business while being a senior in high school.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The major struggle in my career so far has been working around work to be able to do photo jobs. Before I started working, it was mainly school and sports. I had to make time to be able to do my photography.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a young freelance photographer. I work mostly alone except for when I have a second photographer helping out. I specialize in Portraits and video work (short commercial videos for businesses). I’m known for my warm tone photos for portraits and cool-toned product photos. My prices are balanced between budget-friendly and profit-boosting for my business. I most proud of my ability to create a business at a younger age and have more jobs than I thought I’d have at the beginning. I grew trust in many families and clients to have them come back for more. If there is one thing that I would want people to know about my services and brand, it would be that I am very honest and upfront with all pricing. I include other offerings within my photoshoots such as low-priced canvas prints or prints in general. I have great return time with all images and videos for clients. All people are welcome to ask questions whether it be advice on photography or about pricing and if there could be any changes for their specific shoot. I try to connect in a personal level when on a photoshoot or filming with someone to help make the shoot go smoothly.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I’ve had pretty good luck so far in my business as I have had way more jobs then I anticipated while in school.
