Today we’d like to introduce you to Juliana Sotomayor.
Hi Juliana, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was born and raised in Boston, Ma, and moved to Central Florida in late 2013. I was in college studying Criminal Justice because I wanted to become an Investigator. After years in college (8 years to obtain my BS), I finally started working in my field and started my “career”. I HATED it!
I always had an interest in Real Estate but put it in the back of my mind as something I would do when I retired. I learned about short-term rentals and Airbnb and LOVED IT! All the possibilities Real Estate provided blew my mind.
In 2015 I started investing in Airbnb and by 2020 I became a licensed Realtor in Florida. I specialize in investment properties, specifically Short Term Rentals. In 2021 I created a Vacation Rental Management Company, Jules Brave Homes, INC, where I help investors manage their properties and help them create passive income through Real Estate.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. I experienced many different struggles along the way, and I know I will endure many more. The joys of entrepreneurship are the problems we face and more importantly how we overcome them.
I have suffered from General Anxiety for as long as I can remember and keeping a positive mindset and remembering my why has helped me overcome the doubts, fears, and nay-sayers.
I didn’t know anyone personally who has run a successful business, I didn’t even know what a successful business looked like. I had to surround myself with “strangers” who have done what I wanted to do and been through what I am going through. Everything is a learning experience and everyone starts somewhere.

Jules Brave Homes is a Vacation Rental Management company in Florida. We manage short-term rentals/vacation homes for investors who want to generate passive income through Real Estate. Being a licensed Realtor in Florida brokered by LPT Realty, I am also able to help people buy and sell Real Estate. I specialize in investment properties in the Central Florida area.
Jules Brave Homes offer full-service management where we handle listing the vacation home on multiple platforms, coordinate cleanings after every guest, coordinate maintenance and repairs to keep the property in the best condition possible, guest communication, and more! We have a new mentorship program coming soon for people who want to self-manage, but just need guidance along the way.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
There are lots of lessons learned during the Covid-19 pandemic. I have learned not to rely on booking platforms like Airbnb to get my properties booked. Since then, I have invested in software and a direct booking website that allows me to control the narrative of my business.
Don’t build your business in someone else’s backyard!
