Hi Kat, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
When I first became pregnant I was new to Florida from New York and lived in the middle of nowhere and knew no one. I always knew I wanted to be an entrepreneur but I didn’t know my niche, because I was bringing a baby into the world I knew I had to solidify something that could be passed on. I had a notebook with many business ideas and plans that I used to write in everyday. After the birth of my baby I suffered from severe postpartum depression and moved back to New York to be with my family. My first job was at a known Wax Center as front desk where they practiced speed waxing and were very strict about it; they were charging $50 for an under 15 min session (for their most popular service) and I liked the sound of that. I asked questions everyday about schooling and the business; I even watched videos on their technique at my desk everyday to learn more (waxing was not really popular at the time). 6 months later, I moved back to Florida and enrolled myself into Aveda Orlando and started my journey. I did not receive support from my family members at all, I was called selfish, I was told I needed to do something better, I was told I wouldn’t make real money from this field but I still traveled 3 days a week 3hrs in total to make it to my classes. I was so determined to start a career and create a new life for myself and my baby. Before school ended, I already had a business plan and started practicing services on myself. The pandemic hit and instead of putting my dreams aside I put it into action! I started doing mobile wax services , traveling a hour to Orlando almost every day for cheap. Blessings just started to fall into my lap, at that moment I knew I finally found my niche and I was destined for this. Word got around quickly about my mobile services and my business kicked off. Eventually I opened my first suite in Longwood, FL and business continued to flourish. I went on a beauty school tour to tell students my story and also train them in advanced waxing and intimate treatments. I was able to make my first 6-figures at the age of 25 and continue to build the life I wanted for me and my baby girl as now a single parent. I created the first black owned Wax Distribution in Florida with my own Wax Line “Purrdy Blue” that wholesales for many Spas and Independent Businesses all around the States, I added on many accolades such as Post Op Massages, Body Contouring, Teeth Whitening, Eyebrow & Lash Lifting and Eyebrow Tinting. and partnered with a brand to retail their products to become a one stop shop. In 2025, my business Purrdy Kats is still on going and will continue to expand with multiple locations.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I struggled with no support from family, being the first business owner in my family with no one to turn to, I had to learn everything by trial and error, being a single mother and having to bring my baby to work with me sometimes.

We also are a Wax Wholesaler for Spas & Independent Businesses in all States. Advanced Waxing & Vajacial Training Classes are available In-Person or Online for students, professional and at-home.
How do you think about happiness?
Making people feel their very best makes me happy. I remember being in a very dark place after I had my baby and didn’t take care of myself and thought I was going crazy. My best friend one day came to me and said “let me do your hair” and that gave me a little spark back for that moment. You never know what people/your clients are going through and beauty can sometimes be an escape for women.
