Today we’d like to introduce you to Kayla Armacost.
Hi Kayla, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was a stay at home mom that longed for the ability to financially provide, and have a flexible schedule. Having a child who is asthmatic, we never knew when he’d have issues breathing and he needed me with him. I already loved taking his photos, one day my sister in law said she really wanted maternity photos and I thought “hey why don’t I try?” We used my bathtub in my house and I snapped her inspiration photo to a T, I started to try and edit and was absolutely so excited. When I saw the look on her face seeing the images, I lit up. I told my husband how amazing it felt to be trusted to take them and for her love the outcome and I felt something pulling me to do it again. I posted on Facebook for free sessions initially, a year later I charged $50 a session. Now it’s been 4 years of owning my business and I feel so honored every single day. I’ve captured everything from life, death and everything in between. I absolutely love capturing the moment that time could never bring back, I find myself just as excited as my clients. Facebook, and word of mouth of my amazing clients has helped me tremendously get to where I am today.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been challenging all the way. While taking the images, creating a bond and sharing special moments is absolutely magical, starting a business with no one to turn to help is hard. Some places you need permits, you need insurance, taxes, book keeping ect. It all was brand new to me and I had no idea until I’d either found the information, or messed up and someone corrected me. I’ve had times where I’m slow and times where I’m super busy, however I belive nothing worth having comes easy. Everything has it’s ups and downs, it’s bend and it’s bos. That’s what makes it all worth it, and what creates ghe drive to work harder, and educate myself more.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Armacost Photography ?

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
My top happiness is my family. Outside of the love for photography, they keep me going day in and out. My family is the reason I found my love and passion.
