Mariam, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Sure! I’m a digital marketing strategist, founder of a Dynamiki agency, and co-founder of Connect X Program, an educational program for entrepreneurs.
My story in marketing started when I was just 18 years old, working as a telemarketer in Venezuela. From the very beginning, I was passionate about helping others, but I also had a deep curiosity for innovation and business. That’s why I decided to study Marketing and Business Administration, because I always knew I wanted to build my own company. I’ve never been the kind of person who dreamed of climbing the corporate ladder; I dreamed of creating my own.
I spent several years working in the corporate world in Venezuela, gaining experience in industries like pharmaceuticals, retail, franchising, and tech. Each position taught me something valuable and confirmed that marketing was where I could truly make an impact.
Ironically, the moment that pushed me into entrepreneurship came when I hired a marketing agency and found myself having to guide them through the work I expected from them. That’s when it hit me: I have the knowledge, I have the skills, why not do this myself and help others the right way? With a little help from a friend, I officially started my business.
It wasn’t easy. I was in the middle of Venezuela’s crisis, but I pushed forward. When I moved to the U.S., I was lucky to have the support of my family and a loyal client base that followed me. I kept learning, expanding my services, and building new opportunities.
After building a successful agency, I felt a strong calling to help others grow too — and that’s when I co-founded Connect X, a program designed to empower entrepreneurs to define their value, communicate it with clarity, and grow with strategy.
In less than a year, we’ve trained over 200 business owners, hosted multiple in-person events, launched two online courses, and we’re now expanding into new cities — including Orlando, where I’m currently based. Although the program was born in Houston, its impact is quickly reaching beyond.
It’s been a journey of transformation, service, and constant learning. And that’s what keeps me inspired every day — helping others grow, while continuing to evolve myself.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all. It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road.
When I started my business in Venezuela, I was fortunate to have a small but committed team that believed in the vision. Even so, launching and growing a company in the middle of an economic crisis came with daily challenges — instability, limited access to resources, and constant uncertainty. We had to be creative, resilient, and willing to do a lot with very little.
Later, moving to the United States opened up new doors, but also brought a different set of struggles. Even with my family’s support, being an immigrant means stepping into a completely new scenario — a different culture, a new system, and unfamiliar rules. It’s not just starting over professionally; it’s rebuilding yourself emotionally. You have to reintroduce your value, make new connections, and adapt fast while dealing with internal doubts.
There were difficult moments: financially, mentally, and emotionally, but those moments shaped me. They brought out a stronger, wiser version of myself.
Today, when I see the entrepreneurs we’ve trained through Connect X, or the businesses we’ve helped through the agency, I know every challenge was part of preparing me to lead with purpose and serve with heart.
