Today we’d like to introduce you to Marq Green.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I spent 7 years as a diesel mechanic at a repair shop and during that time my mentor had been teaching me how to run a business and crew. I opened Felix Service Center in 2012 after being encouraged by my mother and mentor. When I first opened the business it was only me and my 1 customer. In four years I grew my business to 30 part time and full time employees and over 500 customers. I’ve been an entrepreneur since I was a kid I started out cutting grass in my neighborhood and then I learned to fix broken lawn mowers. My mother and grandmother always encouraged me to stay busy and to work with my hands, I did and it has paid off tremendously.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being an entrepreneur definitely isn’t easy especially in the beginning of starting a business. Perseverance is key, there’s been plenty of times I could have given up but I didn’t and that is the key to success.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My business specializes Fleet Maintenance and Mobile Diesel Repair services. We service diesel trucks from Orlando to Clearwater. What sets us apart from others is that we have dispatchers available 24/7. The transportation industry is growing everyday and our goal is to keep fleets running efficiently at peak performance.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
In the next 5-10 years I expect to see more electric trucks carrying freight and we will have mechanics who specialize in servicing those trucks as well.
