Exploring Life & Business with Melissa (Neytiri) Marrs of Love Your Life!

Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa (Neytiri) Marrs.

Hi Melissa (Neytiri), we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It’s quite random how I landed in Florida. I was recovering from a botched hip replacement in Mexico when I met a couple on the beach. They saw I was struggling with recovery and invited me to come stay at their resort for a little while. I had sold my healing center in California and didn’t have any better offers, so I took them up on it.
I ended up falling in love with Florida and decided to stay

I had a thriving private practice in California treating trauma, anxiety, and depression. Moving to Florida meant losing my license. After looking at all that was necessary to get licensed in Florida, I decided to work as a coach instead.

It took a lot longer to build clientele since I could no longer bill insurance, but slowly and surely the word got out. I started out renting a little shared office by the hour. It didn’t take long before I started seeing people from my home. I wasn’t sure how I would feel working from the same place I lived, but I found it to be so cozy and inviting. Clients seemed more at ease than in the office setting and my practice grew.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Unfortunately, the road has been a bit bumpy. In addition to the obstacles that came with being unlicensed, I continued to have pain in the new hip replacement. I worked through the pain for several years until recently discovering it had a strain of MRSA infection in it eating away at the bone. I had to get a third surgery to get the hardware removed. I am currently still in a south Florida center recovering. I have been seeing clients via encrypted video sessions.

We’ve been impressed with Love Your Life!, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I have a mental health private practice. After over 20 years of helping people heal, there are very few presenting issues I don’t feel comfortable working with.

I have specialized in trauma, anxiety and depression. Very few therapists are willing or able to work with severe dissociative disorders, but I thrive with this population. This includes working with people with DID (dissociative identity disorder). This was formerly known as Multiple Personality Disorder.

I use a powerful and unique technique called EMDR or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It taps into our dream tool and allows us to use it in the waking state. It never ceases to amaze me how quickly and effectively it helps clients pinpoint origins of their problems. It then helps digest those issues in a way they can be released on mind, body, and spiritual levels.

In addition to regular talk therapy, I am also an empath. That means I am able to feel what my clients are feeling often before they even feel it. This gift makes me very intuitive and able to meet clients where they are.

I guess one thing I would want others to know is that I haven’t been afraid to go through the healing process myself. I have a history of sexual abuse and organized abuse. My many years of delving into my own healing process makes me better able to help others.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Doing sacred plant medicine journeys such as Ayahuasca, psilocybin, and San Pedro isn’t considered traditional mental health treatment at all. That didn’t stop me from traveling to Peru, Mexico, and Ecuador to do deep healing dives with shamans and healers. I really love doing integrative work with others who have decided to go down this path.

I was a foreign exchange student in high school so I am bilingual in Spanish. I love working with different cultures and spiritual beliefs. I am tantra certified and am comfortable working with sexual addiction and marginalized populations.
