Exploring Life & Business with Nadine Henry of Brighter Day Psychological Services

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nadine Henry

Hi Nadine, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Nadine Henry, Psy.D. is a clinical and licensed school psychologist with a deep passion for helping others and a strong aptitude for problem-solving. Her journey into the field of psychology began with a focus on school psychology, where she dedicated over twenty to supporting students across elementary, middle, and high school settings. During this time, she provided critical interventions and assessments to enhance students’ academic and behavioral success. Driven by a desire to expand her expertise, she transitioned into private practice, initially working part-time while continuing to serve children and adults through comprehensive psychological evaluations. Recognizing the need to further deepen her clinical knowledge, she pursued and earned a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, allowing her to broaden her impact on individuals struggling with mental health conditions and learning disabilities.
In addition to her private practice, she collaborates with Vocational Rehabilitation, conducting psychological and vocational evaluations to assist individuals with disabilities in achieving their educational and career goals. Her expertise in forensic psychology has led to her appointment on the Fifth Judicial Circuit Expert Witness and Competency Panel, where she conducts psychological evaluations to assess individuals’ competency to stand trial. She also previously served on the Guardianship Examining Committee in the Ninth and Fifth Judicial Circuits, evaluating alleged incapacitated individuals to aid in legal determinations. With a wealth of experience spanning educational, clinical, vocational, and forensic psychology, Dr. Henry remains dedicated to providing comprehensive psychological assessments that support individuals in achieving personal, academic, and professional success.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting my private practice came with many challenges, particularly in finding the right client base and learning how to market my services effectively. Transitioning from a school setting, where referrals were built into the system, to private practice meant I had to actively seek out clients and establish a reputation in the community. Marketing was another significant hurdle—I had extensive experience conducting psychological evaluations, but I had little knowledge of how to promote my services to the right audience. I had to navigate the complexities of networking, building relationships with referral sources, and understanding the business side of running a practice. It was a learning curve, but over time, I developed strategies to connect with clients in need of comprehensive evaluations and built a practice that aligns with my passion for helping others.
